A bit about the role…

This role works within the Retail Excellence Team, whose mission is to bring The National Lottery (TNL) to life for retailers.

The team owns the development of the Retail Excellence Plan, culminating in the Retail Impact Map, which assesses everything impacting retail at any given time to ensure retailers are clear, confident, and, most importantly, consistent in their approach.

From this, a Retailer Training Plan is executed to design, create and deploy all retailer knowledge, awareness and materials, ensuring timings and requirements are aligned to the overarching Annual Business Plan.

The team leads on the scoping and delivery of Retail Responsible Play and Social Value Initiatives, within Retail and across Allwyn, and works cross functionally to ensure priorities, timings and requirements are considered within our bid commitments.

As such, the teams lead the development of all necessary policies, processes and procedures in relation to the Retailer Excellence and Enablement.

What you’ll be doing…

Retailer Experience

  • Create, own and maintain the Retailer Impact Matrix (from the retailer Impact Map), identifying and modelling key risks and exposure, identifying mitigations and ideating resolutions for consideration by the Retail Leadership Team.
  • Own and catalogue key insights, pain points and proposed initiatives and actions across working groups such as retail Experience Working Group, Region of Excellence etc. To ensure consistency of approach to all programmes’ aimed at improving retail.
  • Support with the production of reports, playbacks, measures – and own the innovation of trackers and modernised tools.
  • Work with the Retail Excellence Manager and Senior Retail Excellence Manager to plan, manage and deliver the Region of Excellence testing ground program.

Reporting (Topical)

  • Become an Excel expert with a thirst for data, insight and the story within the data.
  • Become a BI expert for the training of the platform, and day to day, the monitoring and distribution of required reports.

Retailer Training entre (RTC) requirements

  • Support the Retail Excellence Manager with RTC requirements and act as a conduit between Excellence and Systems teams.
  • Project manage the negotiation for delivery of improvements, mitigations, risks and operational changes for the benefit of Excellence and Retailer Experience, with the Systems Team leading.
  • Work with the Systems team to ensure all Independent and Multi-site retailers are active users and deliver the Retention and Acquisition strategy to keep numbers to target
  • Own and maintain all topical reporting and insight for all training packets (terminal asset usage, Snappy Shopper, Scratchcards etc.)
  • Manage the overall content delivery and distribution across the entire RTC back-end management system to all retailers.

Social Value

  • Become the lead for social value projects such Local Retail Champions deliver
  • Be the ‘Champion of Champions’ working across Retail Excellence, RST, CDT, Channels and Supply Chain to ensure Champs are in place and making impact across all requirements.
  • Contribute to and vastly improve Accessibility standards across all retail touchpoints (assets, systems, tools) as Accessibility lead.

Governance and Assurance

  • Analyse multiple data sources from Power BI, systems and internal feeds to identify retail improvement ideas and strategies and feed the Continual Improvement Program.
  • Ongoing monitoring of OPMs through the delivery of weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to inform all appropriate governance forums.
  • Production of governance overviews and updates to the Retail Leadership Streering Group RCSG, the Gambling Commission
  • Become an expert in the intricacies of what governance retail abides by and champions application, continuity and compliance.
  • Support all internal audit deadlines and requirements as necessary from Business Assurance Teams.
  • Assist in updating policies, processes and procedures in conjunction with Business Assurance timings.
  • Support any Integrity requirements across Op Guardian with the retail Excellence Manager – Integrity as necessary.

Creative delivery

  • Provide regular updates and briefing materials, as required, to all Retail facing teams (RST, CDT, C&RC, NAT).

What experience we’re looking for…

Essential Criteria  

  • Operational experience working directly with Retailers, especially Independent Stores (Field Sales / Retail Coordination).
  • High proficiency in using Excel and managing large sets of data (pivot tables, v-look-up etc.).
  • Enhanced data analysis skills via Excel and Power BI to identify growth opportunities and enable change
  • Proven experience in using internal systems/software and managing inputs effectively
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a demonstrable ability to establish effective working relationships
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills via the Microsoft Office suite of products

Preferred Criteria

Role Responsibilities
  • Formal management of EMEA Prudential Reporting team.
  • Lead the delivery of prudential regulatory reporting requirements (FCA, EBA, NFA, CFTC, & DFSA)
  • Lead the planning and delivery of annual statutory accounts for EMEA controlled entities
  • Working with the business to optimise return on capital across EMEA
  • Responsible for the Finance inputs into the EMEA Internal Capital Adequacy and Risk Assessment (ICARA).
  • Draft technical papers for approval to support prudential and accounting decisions
  • Manage and develop the team. Assign work and provide guidance, coaching and support.
  • Continue to develop the ongoing monthly analytical review process for Legal Entities, investigating and documenting material variances.
  • Design effective financial resource monitoring, working closely with Risk and Business.
  • Consume the new EMEA Sub-Group consolidation process from Group Finance, and implement a consolidation framework at the EMEA level to support both financial and prudential reporting requirements.
  • Support process and control (path to green) improvements across the Finance team.
  • Foster strong working relationships across wider EMEA Finance team, Group Finance, Company Secretarial team and the external auditors.

Essential

Experience / Competences
  • Understanding of both the accounting (IFRS) and prudential environment is required.
  • Finance Professional (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, MBA Finance) with significant post qualification experience in financial and/or regulatory control roles.
  • Experience in delivering new reporting requirements and process change.
  • Skilled in Microsoft applications software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).

Desired
  • Experience of Oracle Financials and Onestream preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to professionally develop staff, ensuing load balances are correct and extracting the best out of the team resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated organisation skills including multi-tasking, prioritisation and delivery.
  • Self-motivated and goal orientated, taking responsibility and ownership.
  • Ability to identify problems, propose and implement solutions.
  • Accurate deliverables without loss of clarity, timeliness or sight of the bigger picture.
