I am hiring on behalf of a long-standing client I have worked with for over two decades — a high-growth group with well-known global brands and offices in London, Birmingham, Watford, and Southend.
Why Join Our Client:
The business is fast-paced, but the people make it feel energising, not exhausting. It is a friendly, collaborative, and buzzing environment where work genuinely feels enjoyable. You will be busy all day — but in the best way possible. Expect to leave each day with your brain buzzing, your skills sharper, and your confidence stronger.
It is a happy hive of a workplace, where legal meets commercial, and learning comes fast.
This is more than just a legal job. You will work closely with the Head of Legal and have regular interaction with the Group CEO and C-Suite. In one year, you will gain hands-on legal, commercial, and operational experience that will rival anything you learnt at law school.
This is more than just a legal job. It is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of a fast-growing, entrepreneurial business. You will be based in Watford but exposed to senior decision-making and real-time commercial activity across all functions and regions. If you are looking to move beyond pure legal theory and into the engine room of a business — this is the place. In one year, you will gain hands-on legal, commercial, and operational experience that will rival anything you learnt at law school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and support negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements (distribution, supply, agency, sourcing, consultancy, and service contracts).
- Support the Head of Legal with day-to-day operations and strategic legal matters.
- Advise the Group CEO and senior management on general commercial and business-related legal issues.
- Assist in creating and maintaining company policies, ensuring compliance with current legal frameworks.
- Manage legal records, contract libraries, and internal databases.
- Draft and update employment documents; support disciplinary, redundancy, and other HR-related processes.
- Provide legal input on commercial risk and business terms.
- Participate in internal team meetings, including legal coordination across group companies.
Key skills and experience required:
- 2–3 years PQE or completion of paralegal training. Prior in-house experience is a plus.
- Strong drafting and communication skills. Able to balance legal precision with commercial pragmatism.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and confident working independently.
- Keen to learn, adapt, and build broader commercial awareness quickly
What do you get:
- Salary: Up to £40,000 p/a
- 25 days of annual leave + bank holidays
- Additional days holiday between Christmas and New Year if the Directors decide to close the business
- Standard working hours 9 to 5:30 - 30 min lunch = 40 hours a week
- 1-day WFH after probation and training at the company’s sole discretion (non-contractual)
- Workplace Pension Scheme.
- 60% Discount on our products that we have on Ecommerce.
- Sample sales 2+ times a year.
- Short Leave – with pre-approval from Line Manager to take up to 2 hours off without deduction from holiday allowance.
- Statutory sick pay.
- (Annual pay review and/or bonus at the Directors discretion).
