THE ROLE
* From specifications and drawings, you'll be designing a technical solution for customer projects.
* Sizing calculations and selections of equipment & components.
* Assist with developing a bill of materials to create a proposal and quotation.
* Creating 2D CAD models and drawings for manufacturing.
* Assisting with site visits and surveys as required.
THE PERSON
* Previous HVAC experience in a project design led role, applications engineer, estimator or CAD Engineer.
* Applications also invited from young engineers with a strong mechanical background from a degree or HNC.
* Understanding and knowledge of mechanical building services, specifically airflow & heating/cooling system design.
* Able user of CAD software and ability to use excel for design formula.
* Clean driving licence preferred, to attend site visits or surveys.
THE PACKAGE
Basic salary in the c30-40k bracket, depending on background, experience and relevant career background.
Annual Company bonus paid out on profits.

The Job Mission
As an HVAC Design Engineer, your role is to support and lead system design and integration within the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, ensuring full compliance with engineering rules, processes, and safety requirements.
Your future team will work across disciplines to deliver innovative HVAC solutions.
- System design and integration for the HPC project
- Analyse and verify input data, lessons learned, and component sizing
- Perform thermal-hydraulic calculations using specialised tools
- Support procurement with technical specifications and supplier oversight
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure documentation meets high standards
- Manage system modification requests and propose technical solutions
- Attend kick-off meetings and provide support during system handover reviews
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful system delivery
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications (Essential)
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in design engineering of HVAC in an industrial setting
- Experience working on industrial or operational sites
- Ability to produce high-quality documentation and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive approach to technical challenges

Your Role as a Graduate HVAC Design Estimator:
- Based daily from the Wednesbury site
- 60% of the role is estimation based;

- Utilising AutoCAD 2D to design pipework
- Conduct calculations for airflow, utilising floor plans and previous projects.

Ideal Background for the Graduate HVAC Design Estimator Position:

Role Purpose:
Providing ventilation design solutions and ensuring that ventilation design deliverables and procurement of ventilation packages are created and delivered to meet project requirements.
NB. Due to the nature of our projects, we require individuals to hold full work rights within the UK, coupled with being eligible for SC level Security Clearance.
What you'll be doing
Key Accountabilities:
Take on the lead role in in HVAC Design, creating design deliverables
Lead the ventilation & ductwork engineering discipline
Create mechanical ventilation design deliverables for both low and high integrity ductwork systems
Input to process, heat exchanger, treatment plant and prime mover specifications and design
Review and check vendor documentation for mechanical compliance with project specifications
Ensure design risks are considered and prepare design risk assessments. Communicating residual design risks to others
Provide strong technical support and identify innovative and robust solutions
Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technical consultants and suppliers
Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to ensure that the business stream is at the forefront of the industry
Key Skillset Required:
Proven prior experience working on mid-large scale construction and mechanical engineering projects in a 'Senior Design Engineer - HVAC' capacity
Solid experience with HVAC Calculations, Modelling/Drawings
Ideally any HEVACOMP / Open Buildings Designer, or similar (StabiCAD, MagiCAD, FineHVAC)
Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory material
Competent in the use of 3-D solid modelling software such as solidworks/inventor.
Able to perform calculations related to heating, ventilation and air conditioning and the fluid flow through such systems.
Clear focus on collaboration and building relationships with other engineers and project teams to deliver cost effective and acceptable engineering solutions.
Experience in a broad range of heavy industries such as petrochemical, power generation and nuclear.
Experience and knowledge of PPMOF (Pre-Assembly, Pre-Fabrication Modularisation and Offsite) construction.
