The Job Role:
This role is in a busy vessel operators office requires an individual to have an understanding and direct experience of the shipping /freight forwarding industry's. This position would cover all aspects with an import operator role.
Typical duties include:
- Processing of ships manifest & EDI files from Scandinavia
- LCL AND FCL Shipments
- Accurate and timely inputting of data in our IT operation systems
- Customs Entries
- Organising of Uk Deliveries
- Undertaking of processes and organising veterinary checks

**Primary Function:**
Lead and drive the development of policies and procedures for compliance to all regulatory and Crane requirements for trade import and export activities within CPI. Perform random audits to ensure compliance and work with operations team to identify root cause and to drive effective countermeasures for any and all gaps. Identify areas of risk and opportunity to improve compliance and efficiency. Support foreign trade, clearance of customs, relations with national and international authorities, as well as other related parties, in order to take advantage of preferential schemes and incentives for products and raw materials which are transported and distributed around the world.
**Reporting Structure:**
This role reports to the Sr. Director of Finance and Compliance. The role is expected to lead through influence by working with the different functions within CPI to drive compliance requirements and initiatives.
**Responsibilities and Duties**
+ Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously
+ Collaborate with stakeholder departments to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations
+ Assess the business's future ventures to identify possible compliance risks
+ Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training
+ Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
+ Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate

**Qualifications**
+ BS or BA degree and a minimum of 5-10 years import/export administration
+ Extensive knowledge of import and export control laws and regulations as they relate to: Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

Due to an increase in work, we have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Trade Compliance function to support compliance with international trade compliance laws and regulations, including UK, EU and US (ITAR/ EAR). The role is within the Trade Compliance team and is to complement and provide support to enable business success, ensure integrity while achieving regulatory compliance and the protection of national security interests.
What you will do:
- Support the business in obtaining UK and US Export Licenses through registration or application; and compliance of the Export licenses whilst maintaining appropriate records.
- Process export, import and UK Customs transactions and associated International Trade Compliance (ITC) requirements.
- Assist with HMRC and ECJU audits and queries
- Assist with commodity classification for Park Air and Third Party products
- Support the tracking of UK licenses and US authorisations usage to ensure continued deliveries.
- Support the incorporation and integration of the International Trade Compliance (ITC) standards, procedures into the operating procedures and daily business practices of employees.
- Support in organising and providing training to all employees, and independently providing training where required.
- Support in due diligence activities, including Restricted Party Screening transactions and resolving hits where required.
- Engagement with freight forwarders/ customs brokers.
- Being a trade compliance focal point for projects, providing advice and assistance to employees regarding how to engage the ITC related processes required to meet the required standards and procedures.
Requirements
You will preferably have 3+ years experience in a similar trade compliance/customs role . We are particularly interested in receiving your application if you have experience in any of the following areas:
- Experience in interpreting and providing guidance on UK/ EU and ideally US export regulations for goods, technology and software
- Demonstrable experience in the domain of UK export licensing, and UK export/ import customs compliance
- Experience in providing training on UK/ EU and US export, and import laws and regulations
- Will need to be able to hold and maintain UK Government clearances
- Background in defence & security, space or aerospace industry preferred
- Be able to work flexibly under pressure
- Work independently with moderate guidance and as part of a team

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role.
