Currently, there is an opportunity for a Structural Integrity Engineer to join our Structural Integrity & Materials Engineering (SIME) Team within MSSI, providing an engaging role in vital national and international civil and defence programmes, developing and applying structural integrity assessment methods, particularly applied to metallic components. Our Client, Aberdeen based operator is seeking an experienced Lead Integrity Engineer in their Aberdeen office with occasional trips to their Terminal office. This is a 12 Month PAYE contract with hybrid working.

Job Purpose

Ensure the condition of company assets by effective planning and implementation of the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programme, in compliance with local country legislation and company procedures.

Ensure effective management, and integrity, of data generated from the execution of inspection programmes, from the generation of inspection reports through to data processing and storage within company Information Data Management Systems (IDMS), and wider company systems.

Main accountabilities

Provide leadership to the asset team and site execution contractors, ensuring compliance with statutory regulation, company policies, standards, and procedures.

Ensure compliance, and change if require, to Performance Standards and proscribed assurance tasks, ultimately assuring the condition of structural and 'static' equipment to prevent failure and Loss of Containment (LOC).

Ensure asset integrity work is effectively planned via the asset Integrated Activity Planning (IAP), process and long range / 8Q planning process adhered to.

Data / data systems management:

Ensuring that all inspection data is gathered and processed through company systems as per procedure and in line with local legislative requirements.

Development and continuous update of the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programme, and accountable for the timely completion and approval of Integrity Reviews (IR).

Capture all asset engineering modifications (Greenfield/Brownfield/ decommission), within the inspection programme e.g. baseline inspections, removal of inspection routines, IDMS update etc. (application / adherence to MOC process).

Budget and contract management:

Define, manage, and control the asset integrity budget for their asset. Ensure integrity programmes are included in annual and long-range plan and are fully supported by appropriate budget and resource requirements.

Competencies

We have an interesting opportunity for two Structural Integrity Engineers to join our new office opening in Cardiff.

As a structural integrity engineer, you will be engaging primarily in structural integrity assessments including primary strength, fatigue, fatigue crack growth and fracture assessments, in accordance with ASME III and R6 defect tolerance assessment code.

You will be supporting a wide range of programmes from in-service support, new build, and future programmes.

You will also be building and maintaining Finite Element Analyses (FEA) models to extract stresses to be used in the justification of the components.

We have an interesting opportunity for two Structural Integrity Engineers to join our new office opening in Cardiff.

As a structural integrity engineer, you will be engaging primarily in structural integrity assessments including primary strength, fatigue, fatigue crack growth and fracture assessments, in accordance with ASME III and R6 defect tolerance assessment code.

You will be supporting a wide range of programmes from in-service support, new build, and future programmes.

You will also be building and maintaining Finite Element Analyses (FEA) models to extract stresses to be used in the justification of the components.

What you will be doing:

You will be undertaking a broad range of mechanical assessments, including linear, non-linear finite element analyses.
Making use of traditional hand calculation methods, commercial finite element codes (mainly Abaqus) and bespoke analysis codes.Using assessment work to develop and substantiate component designs, inform through-life management and supporting submarine enterprise.Development and implementation of methodologies to assess submarine nuclear plant components.Relaying the method and outcome of assessments, clearly and efficiently, to a range of audiences at all seniorities within Rolls-Royce, industry partners and customer organisations.

Essential:
Qualified to degree level, or with equivalent experience, in mechanical engineering, physics or mathematics.Able to prioritise tasks and work effectively on multiple projects at the same time.Demonstrate interest and expertise in structural integrity analysis.
Desirable:
Good all-round knowledge of the fundamental failure mechanisms and the methods used to assess against them.Practical experience of using finite element methods (preferably Abaqus) for structural component assessment, along with experience of providing support to manufacturing engineers, designers and safety case authors.Good working knowledge of linear and non-linear events.Experience generating and working with finite element models, using industry standard tools such as Abaqus, ANSYS, HyperMesh.Experience of working in an industry where safety is a priority and in which components are justified to safety cases and/or design code requirements. (ASME III, R6)Membership, or Associate Membership, of a relevant professional institution and working toward chartership.
