About the role

Regulatory Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor and interpret changes to environmental regulations and standards impacting product materials, recyclability and energy consumption in key markets (EU, UK, US, Canada, etc.).
  • Draft, issue, and maintain up-to-date product compliance statements for customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare and submit SCIP notifications in the ECHA database, ensuring accuracy of content.
  • Supplier Engagement and Data Collection Coordinate the collection and validation of supplier declarations for substances of concern, restricted substances, and POPs (PFAS, REACH SVHC, RoHS).
  • Liaise with suppliers globally to obtain declarations of conformity, full material disclosures, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date CMRT and EMRT reporting in line with OECD due diligence guidance and RMI (Responsible Minerals Initiative) requirements.

Testing, Analysis and Documentation

  • Evaluate components and materials against restricted substances list.
  • Review material and component specifications to identify and mitigate regulatory compliance risks.
  • Coordinate environmental testing, lifecycle analysis and impact assessments when required.

Internal Support & Training

This position combines oversight of compliance frameworks with responsibility for controls and monitoring. It reports to the Head of Compliance.


This role is a full-time (Monday-Friday) role based in London.

Hybrid working with a requirement to be in the office 2-3 times a week.


Main Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance and ongoing monitoring of the Payally’s compliance strategy and framework, ensuring adherence to FCA rules, the PSD2 & EMRs, and Consumer Duty.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting obligations with the FCA and other relevant authorities.
  • Monitor and assess emerging regulatory risks, providing advice and updates to senior management and the Board.
  • Lead the compliance team and promote a culture of regulatory compliance and good conduct across the business.
  • Liaise with partner banks, card schemes (Visa/Mastercard), and financial institutions to address compliance requirements and integrate them into PayAlly’s risk and product infrastructure.
  • Develop, maintain, and review compliance policies, procedures, and monitoring programmes.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews on key compliance activities (e.g., safeguarding, complaints handling, client disclosures, conduct of business).
  • Perform compliance risk assessments for new business initiatives and ongoing operations.
  • Support global compliance activities, particularly across the UK and Canada.
  • Chair or contribute to risk and compliance committees.
  • Work closely with internal audit, risk, and legal teams to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.
  • Provide horizon scanning to identify and prepare for changes in the regulatory landscape.
  • Participate in ad-hoc compliance projects and tasks as assigned.


Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a senior compliance role within an electronic money institution
  • In-depth knowledge of FCA regulations, including SMF16 and SMF17 requirements
  • Experience in developing and implementing compliance frameworks
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Professional qualifications in compliance or financial crime are advantageous
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment
