I’m working with the UK Logistics Centre for a global engine development powerhouse in Daventry to find a proactive Supply Chain Planner to cover a 12-month maternity contract. This is a hybrid role 3 days on-site, 2 days from home , working standard office hours (37.5 per week).
The Role:
You’ll be the go-to for supply chain operations across planning, logistics, customer and supplier returns, and inventory optimisation. It’s a pivotal support role within their Global Planning and Logistics function, liaising with key site teams, resolving escalations, and keeping operations flowing.
Day-to-day you'll be involved in:
- Material and production planning for aftermarket kitting
- Handling supplier & customer returns across EMEA
- Engaging with inbound ops and site logistics teams
- Driving inventory optimisation and managing planning KPIs
- Working with planning systems like PFEP, MRP, and BI dashboards
This is an ideal step up if you’ve had some experience (placement or prior role) in supply chain, logistics, or material planning, especially in a manufacturing or engineering context.
You'll need:
- A degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field
- Solid communication and coordination skills
- Confidence working with planning systems, spreadsheets, and reports

- Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing holding costs.
- Evaluate and select logistics partners and service providers.
- Implement and manage supply chain planning and execution systems.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly monitor supply chain performance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, operations, sales) to align supply chain activities with business objectives.
- Manage supplier relationships and ensure performance meets contractual obligations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in supply chain management and logistics.
- Mitigate supply chain risks and develop contingency plans.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive experience in supply chain management and logistics.
- Proven track record of successfully optimising supply chain operations and achieving cost savings.
- In-depth knowledge of warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and demand planning.
- Experience with supply chain planning software (e.g., SAP APO, Oracle SCM) and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
- Experience in the manufacturing or retail sectors is advantageous.
