Role of the Maintenance Planner
Reporting to the CE Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Planner will play a crucial role in coordinating and optimising PPM across site. This hands-on planning role is central to ensuring asset reliability and performance by overseeing the CMMS system, supporting shutdown plans, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the CMMS system, ensuring accuracy of job plans, PMs, and equipment data.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Projects teams to update CMMS for new assets and drive continuous improvements.
- Plan and schedule non-breakdown activities, coordinating methods, materials, spares, and manpower.
- Liaise with Stores and supervise external vendors to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of work.
- Develop and publish planning schedules, including 2-week lookahead and major shutdown plans.
- Monitor KPIs, performance data, and identify opportunities for cost efficiency and contractor optimisation.
- Support identification of critical spares and provide additional planning support as required.
Preferred Criteria:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
- Strong experience using planning systems such as SAP or equivalent CMMS platforms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools and confident in analysing data and producing reports.
- ONC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in a relevant trade or engineering discipline.

This is what you'll be doing
The Planning Engineer will play a key part in improving maintenance performance and engineering reliability across site. Working alongside the wider engineering function, you'll take ownership of the planning and execution of planned maintenance tasks, using the CMMS effectively while contributing to asset care, RCA and CI projects.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and prioritise maintenance work requests in line with site needs
- Ensure correct labour and materials are available to complete PPM
- Manage and develop the site's CMMS, supporting asset care and analysis
- Monitor and report maintenance costs and asset downtime trends
- Support health and safety across all engineering activity, including risk assessments
- Analyse failure data to identify recurring issues and drive improvements
- Drive communication and expectations across stakeholders and teams
- Play a key part in continuous improvement activity and reliability planning
- Ensure compliance with food safety and technical standards within engineering
- Help identify training needs and ensure appropriate resources are available to the team
Qualifications & Experience:
- You'll ideally have an HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- (or be apprentice-trained/time-served with strong planning experience)
- 2+ years in a similar role within food, FMCG, or manufacturing
- Confident using a CMMS to track and schedule work
- Solid understanding of RCM, FMEA and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication skills - able to engage both technical and non-technical colleagues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- A proactive mindset and keen eye for process improvement

Our NMC SW is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, we are responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery as well as winter maintenance and incident response.
The team are first on the scene to assist road users on the road network, deliver engineering design and operational delivery services for more than 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day.
By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role will involve overtime, participation in on call rotas and nightshift working were required by the business.
Highways Maintenance Operatives play an integral part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works.
You will be responsible for:
- Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils' works and litter picking
- Driving/ operating vehicles/plant ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance and cleaning is carried out
- Winter and Summer standby which will include emergency call out
- Safety is high on our agenda so ensuring the safety of yourself and the team is paramount
- Keeping records, including drivers' hours and any paperwork necessary
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting in the delivery of all aspects of temporary traffic management works to a high standard, including High speed Lane closures, slip road and total carriageway closures, diversions and contraflows. As well as traffic lights and convoy systems.

Are you Scheduler with a background in the Utilities or Highways sector looking for a new challenge? Procter and Street is partnering with a well-established Civil Engineering Company looking to expand their team. This is a new role due to increased workload, and you would become a valuable member of a welcoming and energetic team.
As a Scheduler, you will play an instrumental part in the coordination and planning of Highway Maintenance schemes, communicating effectively with Inspectors reporting the defects, and the Maintenance Team who delivery and complete the workload.
Responsibilities
- Answer phone and emails enquiries from customers and Inspectors li>Efficiently schedule Supervisors to respond to Corrective and Preventative Maintenance calls
- Efficiently schedule accepted quoted works and revisits.
- Liaise with/schedule works for subcontractors.
- Obtain permits and supply Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) where necessary.
- Record costings agreed with customers clearly in service management system.
- Analyse systems fault reports and book call-outs accordingly.
- Communicate with Supervisors to ensure schedules are being followed and address any issues or delays.
What are we looking for?
Ideally has working experince in either Highways or Utilities sectors. As well as:
- li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform well under pressure.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and strong administration skills.
- Happy to be Office based
