We're seeking a skilled and proactive Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our client in Lancaster. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives on variety, problem-solving, and keeping things running like clockwork.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform preventative and reactive maintenance across multiple sites
* Perform plumbing, electrical, joinery, building and grounds maintenance
* Conduct routine inspections and safety checks
* Support facility upgrades, refurbishments, and installations
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
* Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management
What We're Looking For:
* Proven experience of delivering building and facilities maintenance
* Any relevant qualifications e.g. electrical
* Strong knowledge health and safety legislations
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
* Full UK driving licence (to travel between sites if needed)

We are proud to be working in partnership with a long-established and highly respected industrial manufacturing business in the Winsford area to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician with a strong mechanical background.
This is a hands-on, site-based role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys a mix of planned maintenance and responding to breakdowns to keep operations running smoothly.
As the Mechanical Maintenance Technician your duties will be;
- Reacting to mechanical breakdowns across a busy manufacturing site
- Conducting routine planned preventative maintenance (PPMs)
- Replacing bearings, gland packing, belt and chain drives
- Assisting with equipment installation and upgrades
- Ensuring safe and compliant working practices at all times
The successful Mechanical Maintenance Technician will hold the following;

Job Description
Multiskilled Maintenance Technician with mechanical bias sought by a recycling facility in Runcorn. This subsidiary of an international, £multibillion turnover plastics manufacturer is focused on growing the circular economy and they see innovation within PVC recycling as pivotal to their global sustainability strategy.
This is a permanent role on weekly rotating shifts, 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm, known formally within the business as Mechanical Technician.
The Role:
As a Multiskilled Maintenance Technician with mechanical bias, you’ll be working as part of a team on the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of bearing replacements conveyor belts, motor gearbox replacements, electrical and instrumentation equipment in compliance with industry regulations, Health & Safety standards, and company procedures. Your duties will include:
- Working in a team of 4 engineers reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, with 75% of maintenance tasks being mechanical
- Carrying out mechanical tasks as part of a multifunctional team: granulator changes, bearing replacements conveyor belts, motor gearbox replacements
- Carrying out TPM tasks to ensure maximum OEE is achieved
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability and efficiency
- Working closely with engineers, production teams and external contractors to ensure timely resolution of issues
- Following strict Health & Safety guidelines, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with safe work practices
- Troubleshooting: diagnosing and repairing electrical and instrumentation faults on a variety of systems
- Accurately maintaining records of all electrical and instrumentation work: maintenance logs, calibration reports, work orders and spare parts stores management
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant legislation, including Electricity at Work Regulations, IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and company policies
- Working Monday to Friday on a shift pattern of 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm following probation, rotating on a weekly basis. (8am-4pm until completion of probation)
- Supporting the electrical engineers with installing, calibrating and maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems including motors, sensors, actuators, PLCs and control panels
The successful Multiskilled Maintenance Technician will demonstrate:
- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent
- Welding experience would be advantageous
- Strong mechanical engineering bias with some electrical experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with electrical drawings and schematics
The following skills and experience are desirable but not essential:
- 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience in an electrical and instrumentation role, across multiple sectors including manufacturing, industrial, energy, or related industries
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and instrumentation technologies
- Instrumentation certification
- COMPEX certification
- Experience working in hazardous environments (ATEX)
- Familiarity with DCS (Distributed Control Systems)
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, and automation is advantageous
