Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily manufacturing activities within a controlled production environment

- Operation of labelling equipment and printers
- Assist in the assembly and/or packing of finished products
- Preparation of equipment and utensils for sterilisation / heat treatment.
- Completion of documentation accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with local procedures.

This is a hands-on, physical role in a fast-paced production environment. You'll be working with cast metal parts, using various tools and machinery to prepare products for the next stage of production.
Duties will include:
- Fettling and grinding of metal castings using power tools li>Manual handling – moving boxes and materials < i>Shot blasting (machine operation)
- Etching parts using specialist hand tools
- Operating a band saw when required
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and workspaces
- Recording production data on a touchscreen system
- Completing paperwork to track tasks completed
You will have:
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment li>A good level of physical fitness
- Experience using hand tools
- Access to your own transport due to location
- A solid CV demonstrating reliability

- Experience using a shot blaster or preparing metal to be painted

Working in a manufacturing environment you will be operating the machines that manufactures packaging solutions.
Previous experience working as a Machine Assistant would be an advantage, but experience working within a fast-paced factory environment would be considered.

About the Role:
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Estimator to join a busy engineering/manufacturing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for producing accurate and competitive quotations by analysing drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. You'll calculate realistic material, labour, tooling, and production time costs, and enter Bill of Materials, routing information, and time estimates into the ERP system where required. Beyond estimating, you'll support production planning to ensure smooth workflow from quotation through to delivery, updating time estimates where necessary after production to improve accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates and quotations by reviewing drawings, specifications, and job requirements.
- Calculate costs of materials, labour, tooling, overheads, and job duration.
- Enter Bill of Materials, routing information, and time estimates into ERP/MRP systems.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain up-to-date material and subcontractor pricing.
- Support production planning by helping schedule jobs, monitoring progress, and identifying potential bottlenecks.
- Align material availability with planned production schedules.
- Provide feedback to improve costing accuracy and contribute to process improvements that reduce waste and enhance efficiency.
- Maintain clear communication across estimating, sales, production, and planning teams.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Estimator, Cost Engineer, or similar role in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of materials, machining, fabrication, and production methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of production planning principles and workflow scheduling.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP/MRP systems desirable. CAD or engineering drawing software knowledge would be an advantage.
- Excellent numeracy, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with commercial awareness of margins, cost recovery, and profitability.
- Methodical, accurate, and organised approach, with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer
- Provide hands on, day to day, technical support within operational areas as required and support team members to help achieve targets and objectives
- Provide documentation and work instructions as necessary to support manufacturing activities
- Prepare and maintain manufacturing processes, qualification and documentation undertaking continuous improvement as appropriate
- Provide support to manufacturing management with operational activities
- Ensure all procedures and methods are updated with respect to the business and the customer requirements and standards
- Ensure that products, documentation and processes are designed with manufacturability in mind
- Be the interface between design and manufacture for product or process introduction
- Assist with non-conformance issue within manufacturing areas;

- Liaise with both internal and external customers.
Key Experience and Background for the Manufacturing Engineer
- Degree/HNC or equivalent in Engineering/Science
- Previous experience of working within a highly regulated industry would be an advantage.
- Good understanding of the principles of the operation of applicable components, working knowledge of documentation control within a highly regulated industry and knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques including Root Cause analysis.
- Proven experience of working with engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, work instructions and first article inspection reports.
