To help lead this transformation, we are seeking an outstanding Head of Manufacturing — a strategic, forward-thinking leader who can drive innovation, operational excellence, and cultural engagement across a skilled and passionate team.
The Role
This is a pivotal role within the business, reporting directly to the Managing Director and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team. You’ll have the autonomy and influence to shape manufacturing strategy, optimise performance, and embed modern production practices that will secure Crittall’s reputation for generations to come.
Your focus will be on manufacturing and production efficiency , leading continuous improvement, and fostering a culture where innovation thrives alongside craftsmanship. You’ll inherit a capable, committed team — and your ability to inspire, empower, and develop people will be key to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a talented production team, creating a culture of integrity, accountability, and high performance .
- Drive continuous improvement through lean and agile manufacturing methodologies .
- Optimise processes and systems, maximising the potential of new technology investments.
- Develop and deliver strategic CapEx plans to improve output, quality, and efficiency.
- Champion sustainability and responsible manufacturing , reducing environmental impact and promoting best practice across the supply chain.
- Balance respect for Crittall’s rich heritage with the courage to challenge convention and modernise processes.
- Report directly to the Managing Director, contributing to business strategy and operational excellence initiatives.
You’ll be an experienced manufacturing leader with a proven ability to deliver change, drive efficiency, and engage teams.
Naturally strategic, you combine technical acumen with strong people leadership and a deep sense of purpose.
You will bring:
- A proven background with Senior leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- A track record of delivering measurable improvements in productivity, cost efficiency, and quality.
- Experience of lean manufacturing, process optimisation, and continuous improvement .
- Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision making .
- The ability to lead with integrity , inspire through perseverance , and drive a culture of excellence .

**Your main tasks:**

**Your ideal background:**
+ You're hands-on, technically sharp, and thrive in collaborative environments. Your profile includes:
+ Bachelor's degree in **Mechanical, Chemical Engineering** , or a related technical field.
+ Experience in **manufacturing, automation, process development, and equipment design** .
+ Skilled in **CAD** design and familiar with **ANSYS** simulation tools.
+ Solid understanding of **extrusion processes** , **compound mixing** , and related tooling.
+ Knowledge of **control systems** and automation technologies is a strong plus.
+ Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to multidisciplinary teams.
