**Position overview:**
As the Line Operator, youre a key member of the Kettering Team, reporting to the Production Team Leader. You will contribute to the success of Ball by performing tasks and providing services to support the plants production goals and overall business plans.
**Your key responsibilities include:**
+ Take ownership for the production line, inspire yourself and others to achieve world class manufacturing practices and results
+ Conducts inspection of in-process or finished product to ensure quality targets are achieved
+ Takes care of the work area and equipment to create a safe and efficient work environment
+ Assists with equipment maintenance by performing routine checks and lubrication
+ Initiate and support lean and improvement initiatives
+ Perform on-the-job training for other personnel
+ 8.5-hour shifts, rotating earlies, lates and nights
**What are we looking for?**
+ Ability to follow instructions, attention to detail
+ Possesses an interest in and an aptitude for mechanics.
+ Sound communication skills, ability to clearly explain processes.
+ Fluency in written and spoken English
+ **Manufacturing background is not required**

The Recipe (About the Role)The role aims to oversee the secure production workflow, guiding materials from their arrival to the completion of finished products within the designated factory. You'll achieve this through strong team influence, ensuring that safety, quality, productivity, cost-effectiveness, timely delivery, and staff morale meet key performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with legal, food safety, health, safety, environmental, and people policies
- Oversee KPI targets and results for the factory
- Directly take care of and assist your team to meet objectives through coaching and adherence to standards
- Oversee training and development to maintain required experience within the team
- Effectively allocate resources to meet budget and production goals
- Report on shift results regularly and ensure delivery of the production plan
- Oversee improvement projects and encourage continuous process enhancement within cross-functional teams
- Accountable for team performance development through coaching and accountability measures
Key Know How
- Demonstrated expertise in successful facilitation and coaching
- Proven experience in high-level team management within a FMCG setting or a comparable industry, preferably with direct involvement in manufacturing
- Familiarity with business improvement methodologies and tools
- Possession of IOSH Managing Safely certification or a willingness to pursue it
- Alignment to Weetabix values

The main objective of this role is to inspire and guide our manufacturing teams to enhance cluster performance. This will be achieved by optimising resource allocation and prioritisation, all grounded in data-driven decision-making. - Oversee the manufacturing process to meet capability, capacity, and profit targets aligned with the manufacturing strategy.

**Recruitment Process:**
Here is a brief overview of what you can expect when applying to our Placement Student roles.
**Online Application:** The first stage of the process is to complete the online application and attach your CV, this must be done before the closing date of the role that you're applying for. Once we reach the close date, we will begin reviewing all our applications, this may take a little while and we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know if you have been successful in moving forward to the next stage.
**Stage one - Video Interview:** If selected, you will be invited to attend a pre-recorded user-friendly video interview which you have one week to complete and submit. You are able to record your answers several times to allow you plenty of practice if required. Please ensure that you check your spam emails for this invite. At this stage if you are successful, you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre onsite on 22nd January 2026.
**Stage two - Assessment Centre:** The Assessment Centre day will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and as relaxed as possible.
**Stage three - Offer:** After the Assessment Centre, the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our preferred candidates, we aim to do this as quickly as possible. Placement Students will start on 6th July 2026.
