Job Description

My client are looking for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to manage a team of 8 Engineers and Technicians through manufacture and complex assembly of products going into a range of regulated industries.


This is an excellent opportunity to take the step from Senior Engineer to a direct Management position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a muti-disciplinary team, building technical capabilities while fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.
  • Support day-today production and new product introduction (NPI) activities, collaborating across wider operations and ensuring compliance with H&S.
  • Provide expertise and lean manufacturing practices to solve manufacturing challenges.
  • Deliver DFM (design for manufacturing) reviews and feedback throughout NPI processes, working alongside the design team to customer and industry specific requirements.
  • Own and manage departmental budgets with support from your line manager, implementing equipment upgrades and improvements in line with budgets and ensuring NPI projects meet cost and quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to proactively drive continuous improvement.


Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, or qualified by experience in manufacturing engineering positions.
  • Experience in manufacturing or production environments, ideally with electro-mechanical products.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement principals (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
  • Experience in regulated industries is desirable (defence, aerospace, marine, medical).


Location: on-site, south of Middlesbrough

Salary: up to £58k (DOE)

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
+ Using LEAN tools and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement project across the Manufacturing process
+ Planning, design, purchase and implementation of integrated manufacturing and assembly processes, managing different projects of varying sizes to successful conclusions
+ Compiling and presenting data on Key Performance Indicators for department scorecard
+ Manage engineering release process to introduce new parts/options
+ Develop and manage Power BI dashboards for the team
+ Review/develop assembly workstation documentation including assembly graphics using CREO/CAD
**QUALIFICATIONS**
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
+ We are looking for a wide range of candidates studying towards a degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing/Controls Engineering or similar
+ Self-motivated with excellent communication skills, and a keen willingness to learn
+ A good level of IT skills including the use of Microsoft applications, Minitab experience would also be beneficial although is not essential
+ Experience with CREO/CAD would also be beneficial, although is not essential.

This role is ideal for an experienced Quality Engineer with a meticulous eye for detail, analytical skills, and prior exposure to large, complex, multi-disciplined projects in regulated environments. Your knowledge of Welding, ISO 3834 & EN 1090 will be high advantageous.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project inspections and technical requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance to ISO 3834, EN 1090, ISO 9001.
  • Collate and analyse data, support audits, and liaise with clients.
  • Utilize extensive hands-on experience in Quality Management Systems and Principles.
  • Interpret and accept contract NDT reports on behalf of the business.


Skills and Experience:

  • CSWIP 3.1 certified
  • Auditor certified
  • PCN Level 2 certified
  • Time-served apprenticeship, HNC, HND or equivalent
  • Knowledge of ISO 3834 (welding inspection) and/or EN 1090 advantageous
  • Experience with LTQRs advantageous


Location : Thirsk

Contract: 12 month FTC - Fixed Term Contract

Salary: circa £40k - £45k (dependent on experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. 07.45 – 16:45 Monday - Thursday, 7.30 - 12:00 Friday.
