About the Role

**How will you make a difference?**
As a member of the Manufacturing engineering team, you will be working with Operations to support the manufacturing areas by developing, verifying, and validating new and existing processes to ensure that we can service the heat transfer and engine cooling market.
**What will your typical day look like?**
+ Control of process documentation, PFMEAs, Control plan's, Process instruction's, etc.
+ Review current processes to ensure that they are safe, cost effective and can deliver product to the required specification.
+ The introduction of any new process in line with the company change management system, ensuring that all documents and equipment are available, and that training has been provided to the production staff on the use of any jigs and fixtures.
+ Work with the Team leaders to monitor and interrogate KPI's assisting with continuous improvement projects to sustain and improve them.
+ Resolve manufacturing problems using data and root cause analysis tools.
+ Implement lean manufacturing and kaizen principles throughout the manufacturing processes.
+ Determine production times, resource requirements and costs.
+ Recommend and assist in design of required tooling and jigs.
+ Work with the maintenance department to ensure that production equipment is properly maintained.
**What do we want to know about you?**
+ Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, A Levels, ONC, City & Guilds level 3, BTEC National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification.
+ Experience with FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), Kaizen/A3 (continuous improvement and problem solving) process improvement, and Poka Yoke (error proofing) techniques
+ Understanding of design and production costs including waste, downtime, scrap, and rework.
+ Proven experience in the use of lean tools and techniques, with strong problem-solving skills.
+ Knowledge of the use and control of business metrics (OEE, COPQ, DLE, TAKT, Cycle Times, etc.)
+ Proven project management skills.

The Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Team is a part of the RMR Engineering Department and consists of a team of Manufacturing Engineers, responsible for development and implementation of new innovative manufacturing technologies.
We drive improvements to execution, efficiency, and cost reduction through the continual implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques and innovative ideas- a key part of the scope of work. We also ensure all the prior preparations are in place so that new projects can be manufactured as efficiently as possible.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Leader, the Manufacturing Readiness Engineer is a key part of leading preparations for manufacturing to ensure a safe, right first-time execution that is both able to start and finish on time. Working cross functionally to ensure everything is in place and ready prior to manufacture, providing technical leadership and active support of the project builds during execution.
**Job Description**
**What you will be doing as part of our team.**
+ Design of new project specific tooling. Developing, documenting, and implementing new manufacturing processes.
+ Researching and scoping proposals for investment of new innovative manufacturing technologies.
+ Organisation and optimisation of tooling and manufacturing processes
+ Planning coordination, installation/commissioning of new kit, equipment, or contractor supervision.
+ Development/validation of new tooling suppliers
+ Analysing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment placement to maximise manufacturing efficiency.
Working cross functionally as part of a global GE team to ensure our customers (both external and internal) are satisfied with their experience of dealing with us.
**Who we are looking for.**
+ Sole UK national in order to comply with Government security restrictions associated with the project.
+ A keen and innovative Engineer who has strong leadership abilities to lead change within our manufacturing organisation.
+ An engineer with strong CAD Design skills (Preferably in Creo or Solidworks), who can model tooling concepts and see them through to a detailed design.
+ Ability to conduct mechanical calculations or FEA simulations is desirable.
+ Capability to set and meet aggressive goals. Motivated and driven to continually improve. Driven self-starter who reacts positively to challenges.
+ Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills. Methodical worker with focus on attention to detail. Structured in approach and well organised.
+ Outstanding computer literacy and knowledge of design. Computer literate in Word processing, Excel and Power point applications.
+ The aptitude to work as part of a diverse and multi-disciplined project team, whilst working on multiple projects and delivering to EHS, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills including negotiation, and presentation.
+ A broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, their engineering challenges and best practices.
+ Motivating and influencing change agent.
+ Flexible approach, willing to work extended hours and travel when required.
+ Demonstrated experience leading engineering design and design reviews.
+ Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and documentation.
+ Proficiency with design tools such as Creo, AutoCAD etc.
+ Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to train shopfloor operators and explain complex engineering processes. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately across the business up to Senior management level.
