Working on a high-speed vacuum-packed production line, you’ll play a key role in operating and maintaining automated machinery while supporting the delivery of quality, safety, and efficiency standards. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong technical and machinery experience who enjoys working as part of a collaborative production team in a fast-paced environment.
The role will be working Monday to Friday on an alternating earlies and afternoons shift pattern on a 38-hour working week. Mon to Thurs the hours will be 6am to 2pm and 2pm-10pm and Friday is 6am to 12 noon and noon to 6pm.
Key Responsibilities
Primary (75%)
- Operate, maintain, and set up PLC-controlled vertical vacuum packing machinery
- Ensure effective day-to-day operation of the product packing area
- Complete all process documentation to ensure traceability
- Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and working area
- Troubleshoot machine faults and optimise packing line performance
- Analyse and present OEE data to monitor and improve operational efficiency
- Provide cover for Packing Operators during breaks and absences
- Support the Engineering Team with maintenance and repair tasks
- Manage product and packaging changeovers effectively
- Uphold excellent housekeeping and hygiene standards across the packing area
- Must have experience of running, setting, and operating complex machinery within an FMCG or Process Setting
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills ideally with an Engineering background
- Must have Set Up Experience
- Have experience of working to ISO/BRC or GMP standards
- Must have worked in a similar role with the following job titles: Line Technician, Production Technician, Senior Operator, Asset Care Technician, Man Tech, Packaging Technician, Machine Technician

At KLA we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech capital equipment for the global semiconductor industry. In this role you’ll be working in our high performing manufacturing team to build and assemble our complex processing equipment.
Based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales this role presents the opportunity to work with innovative technology and learn precision automated manufacturing processes!
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Operating fixturing/tooling or hand-held electronic equipment (Voltmeter, Caliper, Oscilloscope) to test cable assembly or electronic assembly boxes.
- Manual soldering small electronic components (using a microscope) onto Printed Circuit Boards (resistors, capacitors, dies).
- Visual inspection using a microscope (20x magnification) for dies, resistors, capacitors to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Implement systematical problem-solving approach to find root cause and make correction plan for equipment/material/process issues.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering teams to resolve issues with released products.
- Handling or attaching small components (die, capacitors, resistors) using tweezers and in house build fixture.
- Performing visual inspection IQC (incoming quality inspection)/OQC (outgoing quality inspection) on raw parts (flex, PCBA, silicon substrate).
- Handling dilute chemical solutions (IPA, DI water, Acetone, epoxy) to clean products.
- Perform functional tests on products.
- Responsibilities may include operating CNC machines depending on production needs.
Your Experience & Qualifications
- HNC / HND qualified in Electrical, Electronic Engineering (or similar subject) or hold equivalent level qualification.
- Ideally have experience in electronic assembly, PCB assembly and soldering.
- Possesses excellent analytical and fault-finding skills,
- The ability to utilise electrical and mechanical schematics to rectify faults and defects.
- Know how to operate fixturing/tooling or hand-held electronic equipment (Voltmeter, Caliper, Oscilloscope)
- Demonstrates strong communication – You’ll enjoy establishing and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues in your own and wider team.

JOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Manufacturing Line Technician who is familiar with working on production lines and in FMCG / Food manufacturing environments with knowledge of stock control processes.
Working as the Manufacturing Line Technician you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient running of the production lines including from raw materials to finished goods.
As the Manufacturing Line Technician you will work with colleagues and managers to meet the requirements of the production plan whilst maintaining health, safety, quality and food safety standards.
The role is a highly skilled one in which you will have accountability for all aspects of the line.
DUTIESYour duties as the Manufacturing Line Technician include:
- Be proactive towards health and safety, work within defined Safe Systems of Work, to input into improvements of health and safety, to demonstrate to correct health and safety behaviours and report near misses and unsafe acts
- Carry out Pre-start checks on the line as defined in the start-up check sheet to complete all relevant documentation and finish checks
- Ensure all downtime is logged accurately and communicated
- Complete all defined Quality Assurance and Health and Safety checks both at start of production and at designated intervals (inclusive of all CCP’s)
- Ensure Line team carries out all hygiene tasks as defined in hygiene works schedules and ensure on a day to day basis the Line is maintained in a clean and tidy state
- Proactively report any pest control issues
- Manage process/quality parameters
- Identify on weekly basis maintenance requirements for the Line and communicate this to the Production and Engineering teams
- Engage with the continuous improvement agenda, seek out new opportunities and take an active role in all activities
- Ensure Line is supplied with the appropriate materials at all times
- Complete the SIC boards accurately
- Minimise downtime due to changeovers ensuring the Production targets for the shift are consistently met
- Reduce wastage whilst ensuring legal compliance of weights and measures
- Knowledge and experience in a Food Manufacturing environment
- Experience/Knowledge of stock control processes (ideally with WMS systems)
- Basic food hygiene knowledge (desirable)

This is an exciting role within our Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) team, focused on the design and development of improvements to product and processes to support manufacturing growth, new product, and continuous improvement projects!
Within this team, the Manufacturing Design Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring manufacturing and its support teams are planning and completing to the correct specifications, in the most efficient way possible, to deliver high value products, on time, to exacting quality standards.
To be most effective our MDE’s have an input in activities across the organisation and, as a result, have a unique ability to develop multi-functional relationships and contribute to the growth of both the MDE and their support teams technical capabilities.
To hit the ground and make an immediate impact, we expect MDEs to have a broad understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and a desire to continually improve processes to maximise yield.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:
- Prepare feedback on Design for Manufacture to Product Design and New Product Launch teams
- Create and maintain product specs and BOMs.
- Manage specifications with Enovia PLM
- Lead multiple projects, working multi-functionally with our Operations and Engineering Teams.
- Investigate and resolve technical challenges on PCBA to support manufacturing processes – you will be able to troubleshoot at device level.
- Release, update, and control of Standard Operating procedures (SOP’s).
- Provide technical or product guidance to Supply Chain and Outsourcing teams.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
- Generate, review, and approve Engineering Change Orders.
- Implementing change, right first time, following our Product Lifecycle (PLC) process.
Minimum Qualifications

- Is Degree qualified in Manufacturing Engineering or Electronics, Electrical Engineering field or has equivalent experience.
- Has experience of Lean manufacturing implementation and application – 5S, VSM, SMED and cellular manufacturing.
- Experience in CAD design, ideally Fixture & tooling design.
- Experience in Electrical Troubleshooting – desirable.
- Knowledge of Data Analysis (preferably Defect data) -> Root cause analysis
- Is willing to travel to other KLA sites for extended periods to learn, document and move production processes.
