Location: Barrow-in-Furness. On-site
Salary: Circa £50,000 depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:

Lead and coordinate a team, ensuring delivery against business objectives, including training, development, and support toward professional accreditation (CEng/Ieng/EngTech)

Provide expert technical guidance, leveraging product/process knowledge and innovation to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement
-
Oversee project delivery, managing schedules, budgets, performance, configuration control, and governance prior to release
-
Chair technical meetings and reviews, ensuring alignment with Manufacturing Engineering deliverables and quality standard
-
Engage with internal and external stakeholders, applying agreed tools and systems (e.g. Life Cycle Management, production tools) to meet project goals
-
Act as technical lead and signatory, supporting audits, peer reviews, resource planning, and technology business cases
Your skills and experiences:
-
Relevant degree with some industry experience, or HNC with significant Manufacturing experience
-
Strong track record of delivering results on time and within budget, with a focus on safety
-
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (CEng/Ieng) is desirable, or actively working towards accreditation
-
Leadership or management training/qualifications, or a willingness to undertake them
-
Project management experience, with the ability to lead and deliver small-scale projects
-
Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and proficiency in relevant engineering tools and software

What you’ll be doing:
- Liaising with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Projects, Supply Chain and Engineering to resolve issues arising during Design.
- Applying problem-solving tools and techniques on during the design phases from PFMEA to design for manufacture
- Capturing lessons from build activities and integrating them into strategy to prevent recurrence
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Minimum HNC or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and CAD models
- Experience using problem-solving tools like Lean Six Sigma
Desirable:
- Experience engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve engineering/planning issues
- Familiarity with SAP / Teamcenter
- Understanding of submarine build strategy

The SSNA Manufacturing Team:
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, working in the Build Strategy team, you will be joining the SSNA programme but will need to collate learning from experience from Dreadnought & Astute when needed. You will be liaising and managing relations with a variety of stakeholders and business teams to ensure Manufacturing has voice within the Design community, enabling the design to be built in the most optimal way. You will be playing a key part in supporting the delivery of major projects and gaining exposure to senior stakeholders. We’re looking for a Quality Control Supervisor to join and lead our expanding Quality Control Department. This is a critical role at the heart of our operations, ensuring that every part we manufacture, assessable, or procure is built to win – and built to last.
As the Quality Control Supervisor, you will take ownership of the inspection process across key projects, components, and assemblies. Working with both in-house teams and external suppliers, you’ll ensure that quality is never compromised, from initial receipt through to final fitment on our competition cars.
*The role responsibilities include:*
* Carry out detailed inspection of precision components using a variety of tools (CMM, manual gauges, micrometres, calipers etc).n* Inspect complex engineering drawings, CAD models, and geometric tolerances (GD&T).n* Approve or reject components based on strict motorsport quality standards.n* Lead root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives.n* Maintain accurate inspection reports and contribute to quality documentation and traceability.n* Work closely with engineering, production, and procurement teams to resolve quality-related issues.n* Support audits, supplier assessments, and first article inspections (FAI).n* Providing feedback to internal Department Heads in respect of quality assurance outcomes.n* Training and mentoring Junior Inspectors, sharing knowledge to ensure best practice for future development.
