Manufacturing Engineer

Carbon60 is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their clients dedicated team and contribute to the success of their aircraft assembly operations. Our client is a large aircraft manufacturer based in Broughton.

This role plays a crucial role in liaising with engineering and design teams to identify and resolve production-related issues. Your responsibilities will include controlling and maintaining consumable materials and tooling, collaborating with facilities and services to ensure adherence to service level agreements, and supporting safety compliance initiatives.

The ideal Enablement Support Team Member will possess a general knowledge of aircraft assembly tools and techniques, as well as experience in tooling and procedural documentation. You should also demonstrate practical competence in PC-based software and a solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the technical link between engineering teams and suppliers to ensure component manufacturability and compliance with design and quality requirements.
* Conduct regular supplier visits across the UK (and occasionally Europe) to support technical issue resolution, process improvements, and performance management.
* Work closely with Quality to lead root cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement at supplier sites.
* Apply APQP, PFMEA, and PPAP frameworks to define production processes and uphold product quality from the outset.
* Collaborate with Procurement to integrate technical considerations into supplier selection and strategic sourcing decisions.
* Participate in cross-functional reviews relating to design changes, risk mitigation, and supply chain readiness.
* Travel is a key part of the role - approximately 90% within the UK and 10% to suppliers outside the UK.

About You:
* Experience in manufacturing engineering, supply chain, or technical procurement within high-integrity sectors (e.g. defence, aerospace, marine, or advanced manufacturing).
* Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent).
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, PCBAs, coatings, welding, NDT, or composites.
* Confident interpreting technical drawings, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
* Skilled in supplier relationship management and effective at influencing stakeholders at all levels.
* Comfortable working with ERP/MRP systems and engineering documentation.
* Must be eligible to obtain relevant UK security clearance.
