  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles for electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Seeking a Manufacturing Engineer on a contract basis in Portsmouth to help plan and design manufacturing processes in an industrial plant utilising LEAN principles.
You'll maximize efficiency by analysing the layout of production equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilisation, as well as determine parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals.

Main responsibilities:
* Review existing production Cells and implement changes to improve manpower utilisation.

The Manufacturing Engineer role will support the day-to-day manufacturing and ensure that all processes function efficiently and produce repeatable results as well as continuous improvement activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountability, ability to manage multiple streams of work and prioritise according to business needs.
  • Ability to develop and optimise existing and new processes.
  • Providing technical assistance to other departments in the resolution of any problems on existing products.

  • Identifying risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. Generate and maintain PFMEA's.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes Required:

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years proven experience in a similar role that encompasses the above responsibilities.
  • Understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Demonstrated background of product and process improvement.
  • Mechanical / Electronic knowledge.
  • Communication skills (oral and written).
  • Understanding of AS9100.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) intermediate level.
  • Understanding of PPAP & APQP.
  • Continuous Improvement Competent level.

Skills:

  • HND or above in Engineering Discipline.

**What you'll do:**
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT). - Assures policies, procedures, and other documentation are followed to ensure consistent and compliant manufactured product.
- Provides commitment in support of continuing improvements in quality, productivity, and delivery performance.
- Supports product design organization through stranger product introduction phase to ensure customer manufacturing delivery times are met
- Prioritizes safety in all aspects of manufacturing and process design. Assures that Environmental, Health, and Safety issues are addressed considering local regulations, Eaton policy, and good corporate citizenship
- Supports operational tier reviews within the IPT and Aftermarket Value Stream.
**Skills:**
- Experience in manufacturing principles - PFMEA, PPAP, lean manufacturing (6 Sigma), value stream mapping, process flow, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) creation.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve production issues quickly and effectively.
- Implementation of NPI projects, experience with supply chain support, Continuous Improvement / process improvements, experience with additive manufacturing.
- BOM (Bill Of Materials) and Routing audits, knowledge of Laser Part Marking procedures, understanding of Engineering drawings.
- Familiar with FAA, EASA, and other aerospace regulatory bodies.
Skills:
- Knowledge of laser part marking technology
- Knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic
- A general understanding of aerospace-grade materials like titanium, composites, and aluminium alloys as well as treatment processes.
- A proficient level of understanding of manufacturing process and techniques including machining, additive manufacturing, welding, and assembly techniques specific to aerospace.
- Familiarity with AS9100 standards, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Knowledge of automated systems and robotics used in modern aerospace manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail in maintaining technical documentation and compliance records.
- Capable of managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
- Works well with design engineers, quality teams, and production staff.
- Able to clearly convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with tight tolerances and high safety standards.
