We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading aerospace manufacturer on a 10-month contract with the possibility of extension . This role will be focused on supporting prismatic machining activities, parts and casing manufacture, process planning, and production investigations in a high-integrity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to prismatic machining of aerospace components (including aluminium and magnesium parts & casings).
- Support and drive investigation activities for process improvements and non-conformance issues.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing routings, process documentation, BOMs, and stage drawings.
- Generate and amend Work Instructions and SAP production orders in line with MPS requirements.
- Manage engineering change implementation across WIP and current assembly processes.
- Plan, review, and report on ME activities, identifying and escalating issues where needed.
- Request and manage tooling, fixtures, and gauges required for manufacture and assembly.
- Identify and implement process improvements for build sequence, tooling, and efficiency.
- Act as Manufacturing Engineering representative for Shop Floor Support.
- Support non-conformance reduction activities, internally and within the supply chain.
- HNC or equivalent in Engineering and/or time-served apprenticeship.
- Minimum 12 months experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role (3 years post-training preferred).
- Background in aerospace or high-integrity mechanical manufacturing.
- Experience with prismatic machining and handling of aluminium/magnesium components.
- Familiar with process planning and production investigation techniques.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Understanding of engineering change processes and documentation.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of CATIA V5 , ENOVIA , and 3D CAD systems.
- Familiarity with SAP , particularly ME-related modules.
- Experience creating accurate manufacturing BOMs and estimating production times.
- Understanding of tooling/gauging requirements and cost/time estimating for capacity planning.
- Ability to amend shop floor documentation in real-time to maintain production flow.
