A premier manufacturing firm based in Cardiff, Wales, UK is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to spearhead their production operations. This role is crucial for driving efficiency, quality, and innovation within the manufacturing department. You will be instrumental in optimising production processes, implementing new technologies, and ensuring the smooth running of all manufacturing activities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and minimise costs.
  • Implement and oversee lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all manufacturing operations.
  • Lead root cause analysis for production issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and quality departments to introduce new products and improve existing ones.
  • Manage equipment maintenance schedules and ensure optimal machine uptime.
  • Train and mentor junior manufacturing personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the manufacturing department and report on progress.
  • Contribute to the capital expenditure planning and justification for new equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects across the manufacturing floor.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing methodologies and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, processes, and automation.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving techniques and data analysis.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with CAD software is a plus.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency.
