A well-established engineering and defence manufacturing business is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Supervisor to lead a high-performing production team at their site in Stockport.
This permanent position offers the opportunity to play a key role in delivering quality products on time and to cost, while championing a culture of continuous improvement. The successful candidate will lead by example, ensuring that health, safety, quality, and delivery standards are consistently met across the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day manufacturing operations to meet schedule, quality, and cost targets li>Drive continuous improvement across production processes and team performance
- Lead safety, health, and environmental (SHE) activities in line with company policy
- Manage resource planning, shift cover, and cross-functional redeployment as required
- Conduct daily team briefings and maintain local KPI boards (SQCDP)

Position Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Sheffield team. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, you'll be responsible for supporting production, delivering new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement (CI) projects, and driving improvements across safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve manufacturing methods to meet safety, quality, cost, and lead-time requirements.
- Create and update BOMs, routings, SOPs, and other controlled documents.
- Support engineering change management and ensure effective implementation.
- Deliver NPI projects and introduce new tooling and fixtures into production.
- Lead CI and cost reduction initiatives to improve margin and efficiency.
- Analyse manufacturing data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Support CAPEX investment cases and technology introduction.
- Collaborate with operations, quality, commercial, and planning to meet customer needs.
- Apply risk assessments and H&S input to production processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in aerospace/metallic structures manufacturing.
- Expertise in at least two: assembly & fabrication, sheet metal forming, CNC machining, heat treatment, welding, EDM.
- HNC or higher in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.
- Strong project and risk management experience.
- Skilled in RCA, 8D, PFMEA, 5 Whys.
- Understanding of drawings and GD&T.
- Proficient in MS Office; MS Project desirable.
- Knowledge of AS9100, FAIR, PPAP, lean and Six Sigma desirable.
