What does the role look like?
We're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to help shape the future of our manufacturing systems and processes. In this key technical role, you'll be the link between our customers, suppliers, and internal teams-ensuring manufacturing is built into product design from the start. You'll lead technology introductions, manage complex improvement projects, and drive the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing systems.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong engineering background, aerospace manufacturing experience, and a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
- Lead the technical direction for manufacturing systems, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost, and compliance targets are met.
- Act as the main technical interface with customers, suppliers, and internal design teams to ensure products are designed for manufacture.
- Drive the introduction of new manufacturing technologies and support the creation of technology roadmaps.
- Oversee manufacturing system design, including standard work, cell design, process simulation, and takt-based logistics.
- Lead New Product Introductions (NPIs) and major manufacturing method changes.
- Apply tools such as PFMEA to reduce process risk and improve system performance.
- Manage relationships with equipment suppliers and support make-vs-buy decisions.
Essential skills:
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and test.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- HNC (apprentice-trained) or degree in Engineering/Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
Desirable skills:
- Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with Design for Manufacture/Automation.
- Project management qualifications (Prince 2, APMP).

Description and key responsibilities as a Manufacturing Manager:

Manage cost control for labour, materials, waste, consumables and engineering.

Deliver and embed Continuous Improvement (CI) strategy using tools like 5S, Kaizen, SMED, RCA, and DMAIC.

Facilitate CI events and support team upskilling with CI Engineers and Trainers.

Oversee maintenance planning in coordination with Engineering, including TPM and outage scheduling.

Proactively manage employee performance, including probation reviews, improvement plans, and capability processes.

Communicate KPIs, policies, and procedures clearly across teams.

Qualifications and skills required as a Manufacturing Manager:
Essential Qualifications:

Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience in a senior manufacturing leadership role within a fast-paced production environment.

Formal CI/Lean Six Sigma training (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).

Strong understanding of H&S regulations (HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER) and ISO 9001 quality standards.
Desirable Qualifications:

NEBOSH or IOSH certification.

Further qualifications in leadership, people management, or strategic planning.

The Role:
As a Manufacturing Engineer , you will play a key role in enhancing the efficiency, quality, and precision of CNC machining processes. Working collaboratively with the Production, Quality, and CAD/CAM teams, you'll support both ongoing operations and new product introductions. Your efforts will directly contribute to process improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to ISO standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create, refine, and optimise CNC programs for Haas milling centres and complex multi-axis extrusion machines
* Streamline manufacturing processes to minimise setup times and standardise procedures for repeat production runs
* Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling solutions in collaboration with the Production Manager to improve workflow and reduce costs
* Maintain accurate records of setups and implement continuous improvements to drive efficiency
* Conduct workflow and time studies to identify and resolve process inefficiencies or non-conformances
* Assist with new product launches by developing robust and scalable manufacturing processes
* Offer hands-on technical guidance and training to CNC operators and apprentices
* Monitor machine performance and advise on maintenance or potential equipment upgrades
Key Requirements:
Experience:
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a CNC Process or Manufacturing Engineering role
* Proven track record in CNC programming and hands-on machining
* Familiarity with ISO standards in a manufacturing environment
Skills:
o Proficient in Fusion360 CAD/CAM software
o Strong understanding of CNC milling operations and multi-axis machining, including G/M code programming
o Solid knowledge of tooling concepts (preferred)
o Skilled in problem-solving and conducting root cause analysis
o Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
o Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Automation (a bonus but not essential)
