Raw Materials Compliance Controller - Food Manufacturing

About the RoleThe purpose of your role will be to ensure all raw materials (ingredients and packaging) are risk assessed and comply with required standards and customer codes of practise, for food safety, quality, integrity and legal requirements.
Responsibilities- Approve and monitor suppliers by reviewing documentation, risk assess raw materials and set clear quality standards to finished products.
- Ensure compliance and traceability by maintaining supply chain mapping, carry out audits, and support traceability checks to meet customer codes and external audits.
- Work closely with suppliers, QA, NPD, Purchasing, and factory teams to resolve non-compliances, improve quality, and support innovation projects.
- Be an active member of HACCP and audit teams, ensuring risks are managed and all materials meet safety and brand standards.
The successful candidate shall have either a Food Science degree or relevant technical food industry experience.
Qualifications in HACCP Level 2, Food Safety Level 2 and Internal Auditor training would be advantageous.
More detailsThe Raw Materials Compliance Controller job (ref:8954) is paying £30,000 to £35,000 per annum according to your experience.
The package includes 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), Pension with 4% Employer contributions and Employee Assistance Programme.
The site is based in Worcestershire and is commutable from Birmingham, Evesham, Bromsgrove, Worcester and surrounding areas.
The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

What You’ll Be Doing
 
- Manufacturing process planning
- CNC offline program creation, cutting tool selection and procurement.
- Customer liaison on design for manufacture and general technical issues.
- The introduction and progression of new products through the shop.
- Setting and operation of CNC machines.
 
You’ll have existing experience as a Manufacturing Engineering with a good understanding of CMM Inspection methods.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have
- Experience and knowledge of CAD / CAM Software (hyperMill, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Powermill, Mastercam)
- Knowledge of on line ISO programming
- Knowledge of technical drawings, geometric tolerances and practices

 At GE Aerospace we design, manufacture, repair and overhaul a range of propeller systems for Military and Civil applications. This is done from our new state of the art facility in Gloucestershire, UK.
In this role you will be part of the new product introduction (NPI) team to provide support to the growing demand for new propeller manufacturing systems and contribute to develop the next generation of electrified, sustainable aviation. You will be a highly valued member of the Manufacturing Engineering department who are empowered across GE Aerospace to ensure design intent is correctly translated using our production system.
You will ensure design for manufacturing remains a key focus during the development cycle of our products. Through development and pilot production you will provide feedback to the design team, aid the design team in resolving issues, supply documentation, tooling and training to allow the product to be built in a clean manufacturing environment.
With a focus on manufacturability, you will help contribute to the development of new composite processes mostly, facilities and capabilities and assist with the adoption of automation and new technologies to ensure repeatability and reliability in the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities

- A hands-on approach to working directly with the manufacturing and engineering teams to help resolve manufacturing engineering issues using data, rationale and logic.
- Influencing design engineering to ensure manufacturing is represented during the product development process and design for manufacture/assembly is a priority consideration for the duration of the programme.
- Developing test routines to establish process parameters around new technologies and systems to guide manufacturing application and determine feasibility of designed solutions.
- Employ a variety of virtual manufacturing tools to simulate workflow, automation sequences and space requirements to inform capacity plans, resource requirements and line balancing.
- Develop robust, lean solutions for equipment layouts, process design and product flow to maximise ROI and reduce hours/costs per unit.
- Working to ensure that process capability, cycle time and equipment availability targets are achievable through application of automation/existing solutions as well as new technology introduction.
- Define equipment lists, spare requirements, training requirements (production, ME and maintenance), work instructions and substance/equipment safety documentation.
- Be a key part of an APQP rollout and an FMEA critical characteristic cascade into internal & supplier quality operating systems.
- Lead the installation/commissioning process to deliver a system through continuous improvement & root cause analysis that meets delivery targets and operations requirements across safety, quality, delivery & cost (SQDC).
 
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering with considerable experience or equivalent knowledge and experience in Technical Project / Program Management.
- Experience or knowledge of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process within manufacturing and elements of project planning.
- Essential - manufacturing background with previous experience in facilities development and engineering including robotics, automation & conveyor technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize existing processes for throughput, quality and availability at both the design and commissioning phases.
- Knowledge of problem solving methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, PPS, RedX) and APQP requirements.
- Experience defining FMEAs cascading of critical characteristics into a control plan and subsequent development of a manufacturing quality operating system.
- Experience working with subcontracted suppliers and vendors.
- Knowledge of health & safety (H&S) and construction design & management (CDM) regulations and means of compliance.
 
- Experience with high volume composite (CFRP/RTM) and/or high tolerance machined parts manufacturing.
- Experience with 3D Catia, 2D AutoCAD and/or another CAD package
- Experience in working within a highly regulated industry (preferably Aviation but not essential).
- Knowledge of 3D printing/rapid prototyping tools, CAD packages and part production.
- Experience incorporating condition-based monitoring & real time data acquisition & synthesis into a ‘factory of the future’ shop floor environment.
- Broad experience with virtual manufacturing and tooling/process flow simulation software solutions.
- Able to define and discern GD&T product tolerancing requirements.

Job Description- To provide full engineering and technical support across the manufacturing department to ensure that production operating levels are achieved and maintained.
- Manage internal projects within agreed timeframes and to budget, to achieve agreed objectives and meet business needs.
- Produce and maintain relevant internal documentation to company standards, ensuring they are clear, concise and understandable for all users.
- Generate, develop and update Process Control Plans (PCPs), Visual Control Plans (VCPs), Test Control Plans (TCPs), FMEAs and SOP’s.
- Design and develop lean manufacturing cells, through analysis of process needs to include process assembly and test equipment. Work with Manufacturing Services to ensure factory layouts are kept up-to-date and meet business requirements as practices change and evolve.
- Design and develop assembly and testing fixtures to meet the departmental needs, liaising with the Manufacturing Services staff when required to arrange fabrication.
- Identify and lead cost reduction and process efficiency improvement activities, including provision of relevant documentation relating to cost savings and proposed efficiencies.
- Support prototype builds ensuring that all special requirements are met within agreed timescales.
- Support NPI activities
- Identify, justify and implement improvement opportunities.
- Use statistical tools to validate new processes or equipment or changes to existing processes or equipment.
- Specify and purchase facilities to aid production, liaising with relevant internal departments where necessary obtaining best value to meet production needs.
- HNC/HND or Degree level in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- Proven experience of working in a fast paced, manufacturing environment.
- Experienced in managing projects, delivering on time and within budget.
- Excellent working knowledge of 3D CAD systems – Creo advantageous
- Working knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatics advantageous

Responsibilities- Develop alternative production methods using Lean tools and techniques, support and drive automation and robotics implementation.
- Design factory layouts, fixtures, tooling, materials handling equipment, along with designing manufacturing processes for new products as part of the new product introduction process.
- Create drawings and concepts using a variety of software including CAD SolidWorks, ME10 and Microsoft Windows.
- Engage with the shop floor and wider team to solve any issues/problems, communicate and work with other operational departments.
- Productivity improvements using Lean techniques (e.g. SMED, TPM, Standard Ops, Capability Studies).
- Introduce quality improvements (e.g. gauging, traceability, measuring), and product cost and runtime analysis.
- A good understanding, and able to read production drawings.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
- Good IT skills and be familiar with ERP systems, including placing Purchase Orders.
- Experience of project management.
- Proven experience of improving productivity in a professional environment.
- Experience in production cost analysis.
- Effective team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent customer service orientation.

As Manufacturing Engineer you will be the bridge, between sales and production, between the customer and the finished component.
You will define how things are made, plan the route through machining, and make sure every stage meets the standards expected. Millers, lathes, CNC, heat treatment, coatings…you will know what is required and when.

The Role
Due to continued growth and the launch of new products, a Production Technician is required to support the assembly of equipment in line with production targets. The successful candidate will follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble a wide variety of modules and finished goods by following work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure products are built to a high standard using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Calibrate finished products to a high standard prior to final quality checks.
- Report any build issues to the Line Manager and engineering team.
- Build and maintain replenishment stock (e.g., pumps, flush valves, wiring looms, general assemblies).
- Communicate material and supply requirements to the Production Planner.
- Follow 5S procedures and assist with the cleanliness and upkeep of the production area.
- Participate in periodic stock takes as required.
- Support other areas of the production department, including service, when needed.
- Carry out other relevant duties as assigned.
Experience in an assembly role previously.
Ability to follow instructions from team leaders or experienced colleagues.
Competence in using hand and power tools.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to record calibration data accurately in Excel.
Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
Previous production and/or soldering experience is desirable.
The PackageSalary: £25,000 - £26,500 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
