Job Context:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production of high-quality products. The role involves developing and improving production systems, selecting appropriate machinery and equipment, and ensuring that manufacturing processes comply with safety and quality standards. They will work closely with other engineers, technicians, and production staff to troubleshoot issues, enhance productivity, and reduce costs. Additionally, they will analyse data to identify areas for improvement, manage projects to implement new technologies or processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Dimensions:
The role will be based in Thame, Oxfordshire, at Lucy Electric’s regional Headquarters, and might require some UK and International travel.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work closely with the Production Operations Team and various stakeholders and focus groups across Lucy Electric UK & Global manufacturing teams.
Key Accountabilities:
- Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
- Analyse production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
- Ensure that the company’s manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and regulations.
- Review and calculate labour, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making.
- Analyse and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational.
- Work with and alongside all product teams to ensure work and build instructions are robustly created, maintained and routinely reviewed.
- Work with the Operations team to review and eliminate wastes to reduce product cycle times and increase efficiencies.
- Support Lean Six Sigma activities providing engineering SME advice for Kaizen and Lean Projects.
- Participate in Manufacturing Engineering strategy and planning meetings.
- Contribute towards CAPEX proposals ensuring new technology opportunities are validated from a technical, business and program perspective.
- Manage New Product Introduction, Quality, Leadtime, Cost Reduction and Drive ‘Design for Manufacture’
- Promote Engineering Excellence within the business, provide coaching and leadership.
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required by the leadership team in order to maintain alignment with company goals and objectives.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
- Level 3 Management – Chartered Management Institute (CMI) or Equivalent.
- Level 3 Engineering or equivalent.
- Lean Six Sigma Trained to Green Belt level.
- Excellent Proficiency in Microsoft D365
- Experience of Industry 4.0 tools and techniques.
- Problem solving tool use – Ishikawa, Five Whys, Pareto, DMAIC.
- Full UK Driving Licence or approved equivalent.
- Effective communication skills, at all levels, verbally and via written reports / presentations.
- Ability to lead and/or work in a team, but also responsible for working autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Has a can do and positive attitude and inspires people when collaborating and engaging.
- Effective time management towards time critical projects and deadlines.

This role is central to establishing IONETIC’s manufacturing capability in the UK, with responsibility for designing, implementing, and optimising assembly and testing systems for battery modules and packs. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including product design and customer-facing engineering—to ensure manufacturing solutions are cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with best-in-class quality and performance standards.
The work will involve deploying new technologies, supporting digitalisation of manufacturing processes, and driving DFM/DFA principles to deliver efficient, high-quality production outcomes.
Responsibilities- Plan, specify, develop, and implement manufacturing facilities and processes for battery module and pack assembly and testing, ensuring targets for quality, cost, and performance are met.
- Collaborate with internal and external design teams to ensure products are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet all production requirements, using digital tools to support early design validation.
- Lead robust process quality planning activities, including digital simulations of assembly, build processes, and adherence to automotive standards.
- Take an active role in early build phases, both in-house and at customer locations, to ensure smooth industrialisation and product launch.
- Evaluate and select appropriate manufacturing technologies, including automation and robotics, and carry out industrial engineering tasks such as layout planning, cycle time analysis, and ergonomic assessments.
- Own and deliver all manufacturing engineering workstreams within development programmes, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Provide manufacturing input into new business proposals and feasibility studies, including cost estimates and production capability assessments.

Overview
We're looking for a Manufacturing Technician to join our team in Witney. In this role, you will be a key part of our night shift, helping to produce life-changing medical products. You'll operate and monitor advanced equipment, ensuring the smooth production of essential healthcare devices.
Key Details- Job Title: Manufacturing Technician (Night Shift)
- Location: Witney, Oxfordshire
- Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (7 pm - 7 am)
- Pay Rate: £16.49 per hour
- Operating and Monitoring Equipment: You'll run and monitor highly automated manufacturing equipment, perform setup and line clearances, and ensure processes run smoothly by following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Data Management: Accurately input machine data (e.g., yield, process efficiency) into relevant software systems like MacPac or POMS/EBR for inventory and batch record management. You will be responsible for timely and accurate data entry and verification.
- Quality and Compliance: Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation (following 6S principles). You will ensure all work complies with strict guidelines, SOPs, COSHH, and EHS risk assessments.
- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues on the production line, escalating more complex problems to engineering or management. You'll collaborate with colleagues to ensure machinery is well-maintained and that breakdowns are reported promptly.
- Safety: Adhere to all safety training and procedures, including the timely reporting of near misses and accidents. You will be knowledgeable about and able to access relevant safety documents.
- Detail-Oriented: A commitment to following strict guidelines and SOPs with a high degree of accuracy.
- Problem-Solver: A proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Team Player: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- IT Literate: Comfortable working with machinery and basic IT systems for data entry.
- Quality and Safety-Focused: A commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and quality.
- Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or regulated environment is a plus, but not required. We provide full training to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role.
