Job Title: Electronics Manufacturing Engineer

Reports to: Operations Manager


Position Summary

The Electronics Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for documenting, designing, building, diagnosing, repairing, and testing electronic systems and components used in Technology Design’s advanced ultrasonic inspection systems. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of circuit theory, the ability to fault find to component level, and proficiency in reading and interpreting schematic drawings. The position is based at our facility near Birchwood, Warrington and reports to the Operations Manager.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical and electronic systems according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical/electronic principles, using hand tools as well as test and measurement instruments
  • Debug, analyze and repair at component level and resolve electronic and electrical issues using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
  • Support the design and development department with PCB design, firmware coding and troubleshooting, and testing new electronic systems and prototypes
  • Design and assemble manufacturing test fixtures
  • Conduct calibrations, preventative maintenance and ensure all equipment operates to specification
  • Develop and maintain accurate assembly, service and test documentation.
  • Adhere to company handbook, health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Use computer assisted engineering simulation and design software and equipment to perform hardware and firmware development and design tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BEng or equivalent) in Electronics Engineering or a HNC in Electronics with min. 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in fault finding to component level on complex electronic circuits. Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design and components
  • Full proficiency in reading and interpreting schematic drawings and PCB layouts, processor and IC data sheets for thermal management and sensing equipment is required
  • Ability to read firmware code and some experience with microcontrollers and FPGA design
  • Proficiency using Oscilloscopes, signal generators, digital multi meters and assorted test equipment
  • Good understanding of soldering, rework, and ESD handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB design
  • Experience to include, but not limited to, microcontroller-based measurement and control circuits; mixed signal; low noise analog; Switched Mode Power Supplies, both AC/DC and DC/DC from 10 to 300 Watts of various topologies.

Compensation

  • Base annual salary: commensurate with experience
