Leading provider of industrial, medical and special gases is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support their team at their store in Morden.
This is an interim role to start ASAP for an initial 3-month period and will pay circa 20.00 per hour.
This is a site-based role, working 6am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.
The main duties of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician will include:
- The completion of all routine and breakdown maintenance of plant and machinery, ensuring that the work is undertaken safely and efficiently.
- Inspect and check operating plant and machinery as instructed. Diagnose faults on plant and machinery and complete SAP notifications and work orders for the rectification.
- Resolving plant problems by rectifying defects, and identifying opportunities that will enhance plant reliability.
- Isolation of plant (to the level of competence and authorisation) for maintenance purposes, testing and restarting equipment once maintained.
- Participation in a call-out system to support on (and off-site) operations, where appropriate.
- Previous experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role
- Appropriate City and Guilds/NVQ3/ONC/HNC Mechanical Technician qualifications.
- Experience of working in a process plant environment.
- Experience of maintenance, including reciprocating pumps (ideally cryogenic) Electrical, Instrument and Mechanical subsystems.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of industry and statutory standards and codes of practice.
- Knowledge of COMAH responsibilities and competency requirements.
- Good understanding of current Health, Safety and Environment legislation.

THE ROLE
- Maintaining paint plant, coating and wash based facilities
- Carryout fault finding activities and undertake timely repair of equipment in the following areas; Conveyor systems, fluid tanks, pumps, motors, bearings, electrical systems
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance activities on automated production facilities. (PPM)
- Fault diagnosis, servicing and repair of the pain and wash facilties across the site
- Drive improvement activities and work with external suppliers to deliver projects on time
- Able to prepare shift reports to highlight the shift problems and communicate this to the team in a shift handover
THE PERSON
- Has served a 4 year apprenticeship in Multi-skilled maintenance, preferably in an automated manufacturing environment.
- Educated to HNC level or equivalent in a Multi-Skilled discipline (Mechanical Bias).
- Has experience maintaining automated facilties, fault finding and implementing improvements.
- Possess a good mechanical knowledge of pumps, motors, conveyor systems including pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical.
- Has experience refurbishing pumps, motors and bearings
- Possess a good knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques
- Able to produce technical reports with good working knowledge of maintenance systems.
