Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
ProfessionLX specializes in professional services where we engage our employees to empower them to excel for our customers. We are looking for a talented and committed Service Musician to support the RAF Mildenhall Protestant Parish by providing musical accompaniment for the Contemporary Worship Service. This includes playing music before, during, and after the service, as well as during rehearsals and special services as needed. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Protestant Music Director and the Chaplain leading the service to create a meaningful worship experience. You’ll help set a respectful and welcoming atmosphere for all who participate in chapel programs, with a deep sensitivity to the diverse religious backgrounds of Air Force personnel and their families. It's essential that all team members, including volunteers, foster an environment of religious respect. While you're encouraged to share your musical gifts, this role must never involve pressuring anyone to adopt any specific religious belief. Respect and inclusivity are core to everything we do.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As the Protestant Music Director, you’ll play a key leadership role in shaping the music ministry for the Contemporary Service. Each week, you'll meet with the Chaplain overseeing the service—and often with the Service Musician—to plan, order, and coordinate the music for worship. Whether you're leading worship yourself or arranging coverage, you’ll be the go-to person for creating a cohesive and meaningful musical experience.
You’ll design and guide the music program, working with both praise teams and choirs, and ensuring the inclusion of special music selections when appropriate. Collaboration is a big part of this role—you’ll work closely with volunteer vocalists and musicians to build a unified team that delivers a polished and heartfelt worship experience. You’ll also be responsible for recruiting new praise team members, including sound system operators, and helping them get the training they need to use chapel equipment confidently and effectively. This will be done in coordination with the Chaplain overseeing the service.
Just like other worship leaders, you’ll arrive about 45 minutes before each service to help oversee setup, and you’ll stay after to assist with clean-up. Rehearsals are typically held once a week at the RAF Mildenhall Chapel, and may be extended or adjusted depending on the needs of the service—especially around holidays or special events. These usually last one to three hours, based on what’s needed to prepare the team.
You’ll also handle some administrative tasks, like coordinating with chapel officials to request music supplies, handle equipment needs, and ensure everything arrives in time. To make sure the logistics run smoothly, supply requests (such as scores, folders, or song sheets) should be submitted in writing to the Account Manager about 60 days ahead of when they’re needed.
RequirementsWHAT YOU WILL BRING
To thrive in this role, you should have at least two years of experience being part of a church or chapel praise and worship team. Whether your strength is singing or playing an instrument—like guitar, piano, or keyboard—you’ll need to be confident leading a contemporary worship setting.
You’ll be guiding a volunteer praise band, so it’s important that you’re comfortable directing musicians in a way that encourages congregational singing of hymns and praise songs. Familiarity with contemporary worship music, especially selections from the CCLI SongSelect Top 100, will really help you succeed. You'll need to be train in voice and/or instrumental accompaniment and be able to sight read and tailor music to meet the Chape'ls needs.
This is a collaborative environment, so being open to working with chapel staff and volunteers from diverse religious backgrounds is essential. You should also have a general understanding of Protestant beliefs, practices, and traditions to help you navigate services with cultural and theological awareness.
Lastly, since clear communication is key, especially during services and rehearsals, you’ll need to be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Benefits We offer great opportunities for personal and professional development in an international company, with a focus on supporting our customers to excel in their strategic goals. The role comes with a competitive salary package, paid time off, Federal holidays, and professional development. You will be a part of a dedicated group of colleagues who value teamwork and collaboration whose focus is to empower our customers.Musical Theatre – Ensemble & Music Director
