Owning to the continued expansion within our built environment sector, we have an exciting opportunity for Project Managers to join our growing and diverse Buildings team to be based in one of our growing teams in Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle or Manchester.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for Project Delivery through the RIBA Stages acting as the integrator of multidiscipline teams, working on a variety of projects across a diverse client base including Central Government, Local Authority, and the Private Sector. Some of our current clients include Ministry of Justice, Home Office, Homes England, MHCLG and Sheffield Council.

Project Management Services to include:
  • Advising the client to help them define the strategic brief, including goals and objectives of the project
  • Support the client to establish and procure the project team
  • Define the project success factors including time, cost, quality, environmental, and social outcomes
  • Define and agree project governance structure aligned to client and legislative requirements
  • Produce a detail project execution plan that outlines how the project will be managed

Opportunity


Following the award of a number of new projects across the North East, we’re seeking a diligent and dedicated Project Manager to join our growing team. As our Project Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of the scheme.


What you’ll be doing


  • Ensuring that the Construction Programme is implemented including producing all short term look ahead programmes, developing schedules which allow accurate monitoring and reporting of progress.
  • Constantly monitoring and reporting against the Contract Programme.
  • Develop, control, and ensure delivery against the project budgets including profit, preliminaries, and procurements.
  • Implementing all statutory regulatory and company requirements for managing Health and Safety.
  • Secure and manage the appropriate resources to deliver the project / scheme effectively and efficiently in a professional manner to ensure successful delivery within project constraints.
  • Identifying and monitoring project risks, planning and implementing risk mitigations.
  • Provide a successful and smooth handover of the project, including support to customer / end user throughout the handover process.

  • A Construction or Civil Engineering related degree or a trade background with construction management experience.
  • Previous experience of delivering high value Industrial and Commercial schemes.
  • Leadership experience in the construction industry at Project Management Level.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Valid SMSTS qualified.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


The responsibilities of the Project Manager include (but are not limited to):


This is a customer facing role, the incumbent will work across all Crane Authentication product verticals as required; Government Solutions, Brand and ID, delivering solutions to high value customers and working with stakeholders across the business. The Project Manager is responsible for:


  • Leading the project and representing Crane Authentication with high value customers, ensuring contractual milestones are delivered
  • Managing the creation and delivery of project outputs within tolerance levels (time, cost and quality), taking a hands-on approach to take ownership of the project or workstream to be delivered
  • Directing and motivating the wider project team
  • Day-to-day management of operational and tactical aspects of the project
  • Planning and monitoring the project, including the production of progress reports, board reports etc. against plan
  • Managing project-level issues and risks with appropriate management / mitigation plans as required
  • Eliminating ambiguity around project scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources and risk – both forecasting during up-front planning phases and then iterate throughout the remainder of the project


Essential Functions Performed by the Position



  • A hands-on, focused approach is essential to lead assigned projects, manage a flexible team, and oversee projects valued over £1 million.
  • Be the face of the project, building excellent relationships with customers and stakeholders alike
  • Facilitate project meetings and always working within the agreed framework, being adaptable to specific customer requirements for governance and reporting
  • Hold the business and stakeholders to account for delivery of agreed project objectives
  • Plan, define, verify and manage the scope, timeline, budget, and quality of projects
  • Be accountable for timely communication of status or critical decisions needed from accountable executives
  • Agree and track project budgets of over £1m
  • Provide oversight throughout project lifecycle from initiation, through to closure
  • Be accountable for engaging stakeholders through the process of delivering projects
  • Identify, quantify, prioritize, and manage delivery risks; develop and manage project risk mitigation plans; invoke mitigation plans and escalate appropriately
  • Plan and direct all executive stakeholder & overall project communications; ensure completion of appropriate documentation and distribute to appropriate parties
  • Manage work package leads and/or project teams to achieve project goals and objectives
  • Define activities & dependencies, estimate work effort, develop & manage schedules and report on actual vs. planned work
  • Work within the Project Management team and within the agreed framework, adopt PM best practices and adopt and approach which supports the ethos of continuous improvement.


Position Qualifications


Have or working towards recognised Project Management qualification

Proficient in Office 365, including MS Project


Education:


Educated to degree or Apprenticeship Level 6, or equivalent experience


Experience:

  • Essential - Proven experience in a change discipline and in-depth knowledge of PM methodologies and Project Lifecycles
  • Essential - Evidence of management of deliverables/workstreams/projects across matrix teams, covering internal and 3rd Party Suppliers, across different geographical locations
  • Essential - Experienced in risk and issue management
  • Essential - Evidence of stakeholder management (internal and external)
