The Opportunity

We are looking for a Maritime Engineer to join our UK Maritime Team, working on local and international projects. You will assist in delivering a variety of maritime and port projects, including feasibility studies, port master planning, technical due diligence, and design from conceptual to detailed stages. You will collaborate with colleagues to provide responsive service to clients, develop digital tools for project delivery, and may contribute to fee proposals for various opportunities.

This role requires a willingness to learn and grow in this expanding field. Typical clients include port owners/operators, offshore wind developers, contractors, investors, and public sector bodies. Our projects are varied and aim to make a positive impact globally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Supporting delivery of maritime and port projects, including design and advisory roles.
  2. Assisting in project management of multidisciplinary teams to meet deadlines and budgets.
  3. Delivering civil/maritime engineering designs, calculations, models, reports, and drawings.
  4. Representing the maritime team in internal and external forums.
  5. Sharing knowledge and supporting innovation and internal training.
Is this role right for you?

You should hold a BEng, MEng, or MSc in Civil Engineering or a related field, and ideally be working towards Chartered Engineer status.

We seek candidates with:

  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to plan and multitask effectively.
  • Experience in port facility design using Eurocodes, PIANC, or relevant standards.
  • Onsite construction experience in maritime or port infrastructure.
  • Project management experience for small to medium port projects.
  • Good understanding of port operations and infrastructure requirements for various cargo types and offshore wind.

The Requirements Team SMEs will work with the Courseware and Media Teams to identify technical data requirements for the development of Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) courseware and media. Having identified the data requirements, the Requirements Team SME will work with the courseware and media content developers to contextualise training and language and ensure correct conditions and standards are applied to the training solution.
**Skills** **and Experience**
+ Proven at sea experience as a Cat A or Cat B Nuclear watchkeeper.

Job Title: ManoeuvringRoom and Marine Engineering Instructor / Trainer

Location: Site-based in Clyde, Faslane (no hybrid working)

Salary: 47,000 - 59,500 (Depending on Category A or B qualification)

Type: Full Time, Permanent (Our client can consider flexible working arrangements if required)

Duties:
  • Deliver training programmes to include: Astute Class Marine Engineering, Maintainer, and Nuclear Steam Raising Plant Operator, and other training programmes as required.
  • All delivery takes place on our clients site, through simulation.
  • Coach, support and motivate learners throughout their training programme
  • Carry out all admin as required and liaise with training design team for routine reviews and amendment of training programmes offered
Essential Criteria:
  • Must hold qualification as a Category A or B Watchkeeper (Royal Navy Submarine Service)
  • Knowledge and experience of serving on a submarine
  • DBS cleared/happy to undergo clearance.

Our coastal team has an excellent track record in delivering coastal policy, management, and design projects both within the UK and internationally. We sit on several coastal frameworks and also undertake a range of work for private sector clients. We provide the complete coastal and marine service from front end feasibility projects, hydraulic modelling, environmental coastal management, climate adaptation, business case and economic appraisal, outline and detailed design of coastal structures, harbours, marinas and developments.

Our Graduates gain valuable experience working on a variety of global projects alongside a multitude of different disciplines. Our graduates are encouraged to develop their understanding of many elements within the water industry, such as hydraulic, structural and environmental design through calculations, report writing and use of engineering software. You will work alongside our experienced engineers as you develop these skills within a positive culture where learning and development is actively supported and promoted.

**Hereu2019s what youu2019ll do:**
Input at all stages of design to the delivery of major new coastal infrastructure projects
Undertake overtopping assessments using the Eurotop manual
Inspection, feasibility studies and detailed design relating to coast protection and sea defence structures e.g. revetments, rock armour, breakwaters, and embankments.
Design of coastal and maritime structures e.g. revetements, sea walls, quay walls, jetties, flood walls, steel sheet piling, lock and dock gates.
Input to costing of coastal structures and economic appraisal
Structural / civils design calculations
AutoCAD production of coastal design drawings
Develop BIM and 3D model skills and experience
Apply tools and coding (Python, R, GIS etc) to undertake analysis

Basic computer skills essential (Word/Excel)
