Lead and develop our EU Business Development (BD) team to drive regional growth, elevate deal quality, and sharpen our position with small and mid-size biopharma. Partner with operations to ensure smooth delivery from award to activation. We’re seeking a proven CRO sales leader with executive presence and a strong track record of converting pipelines into contracts.

About the Role

The Vice President, Business Development (VP, BD) leads regional growth by managing the EU Business Development (BD) team and partnering closely with operations. You will drive revenue targets, qualify and close high-quality opportunities, and shape win strategies that position Allucent with small and emerging biopharma.
This is a hands-on leadership role: building and coaching talent, maintaining pipeline discipline in Salesforce, and ensuring compliant, high-impact business development practices. You will engage clients directly, expand accounts, negotiate contracts, and deliver sustainable growth across key therapeutic areas.

Your main responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Lead and develop the EU BD team, coaching talent, recruiting, and building bench strength.
  • Drive regional revenue and awards targets by identifying, qualifying, and closing new and existing business opportunities.
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, and Marketing to translate client objectives into win strategies and competitive proposals.
  • Oversee full deal lifecycle from RFI/RFP through contract negotiation, ensuring smooth handoff to operations.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data and forecasting in Salesforce to inform leadership and strategy.
  • Build and sustain strong client relationships, positioning Allucent as a trusted partner in small and emerging biopharma.
  • Champion compliant, auditable BD practices and contribute market insights to guide corporate strategy.

About You

If you are a seasoned CRO business development leader with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing high-value deals. You bring strong executive presence, strategic thinking, and a hands-on approach to building and coaching high-performing teams you will thrive here.

To be successful we are looking for the following traits and behaviors:

  • CRO Expertise & Commercial Acumen: Proven success selling end-to-end CRO services, designing solutions, managing pricing, and driving account growth with competitive positioning.
  • Leadership & Influence: Build, coach, and inspire high-performing US BD and global AD teams; excel in executive storytelling, bid defense, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strategic Execution & Operational Discipline: Lead complex negotiations, maintain Salesforce pipeline and accurate forecasting, and navigate regulatory frameworks with integrity and resilience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences or Business (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of successful BD experience selling contract clinical research services

Overview

TE Magnetics (TEM) is a commercial unit within Tokamak Energy focused on commercialising our magnet technologies. We are ushering in the HTS era.

We recognise we are in our infancy in establishing an HTS business, but we are ambitious with big plans to grow fast and make a global impact. We are seeking a driven VP of Magnet BD & Sales to lead a number of business and commercial development sectoral activities. This role is key in enabling us to shape our technologies into products that make an impact.

Reporting to the SVP of Magnet BD & Sales the role encompasses leading on specific and complex bodies of work encompassing market development, business planning, together with structuring and negotiation of new opportunities to develop and deploy our technology, in collaboration with third party partners.

Requirements

  • Securing BD Partnerships and Early Revenue: Identify, plan and secure business development opportunity / partnerships which enable our go-to-market strategy and provide early development revenue to validate our growth investment case.
  • Negotiation and Revenue: Lead on negotiating contracts and agreements (including technical collaborations and partnerships, licenses, technology transfer and other strategic agreements) for specific agreements/sectors on behalf of the company to generate revenue and validate our strategy.
  • Commercial Case and Investment: Lead on crafting business plans / commercial cases to support R&D investment and prioritisation of commercial contacts for delivery based on estimated revenues, costs, gross margins and strategic impact.
  • Team Management: For specific sectors, provide leadership, recruit and build a team to deliver on strategic objective, whilst seamless integrating with technical, application, and business development efforts across TEM and TE.

In addition, this role will play an important role in the optimisation of the trade surveillance programme, including delivering testing and calibration exercises of surveillance alerts, identifying and coordinating with our surveillance system vendors to develop new alerts, implementing solutions to increase efficiencies, and supporting and developing the L1 offshore surveillance team.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESIn respect of vendor based automated surveillance or EUC alerts, reviewing and investigating all referrals made by the offshore L1 team; documenting and analysing all relevant information to determine if any concerns of suspicious activity merit escalation to the Trade Surveillance Senior Manager and EMEA Head of Surveillance.Working collaboratively with the L1 team, overseeing the quality of alert disposition and providing feedback to support training efforts.
