Our client is a world class, multi award-winning, well-established Global manufacturing business, with strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant. They produce specialist materials and are an acknowledged international leader in terms of size, technical capabilities, product quality and market share.
As part of our client's succession plan, the successful candidate will initially work alongside the current (SNR) Plant Manager, and will replace this role as Plant Manager once fully integrated in the business and up to speed with the role.
You must possess a manufacturing, engineering, or similar degree / HND HNC qualification. (or extensive demonstrable proven experience gained within a similar role)., as well as sound manufacturing and leadership experience, combined with Knowledge of managing manufacturing processes (machine uptime, OEE and TPM), costs, and lean practice. It would also be beneficial to have an understanding of Environmental Permits / A(1), as well as ISO1 Standards: 4001/45001/9001/50001, and an understanding of IATF.
SCOPE OF ROLE
Initially reporting to the current incumbent (SNR Plant Manager), and the Vice President of Manufacturing, the successful candidate will lead and manage all Plant functions delivering/exceeding the key business metrics/objectives with a particular focus on Safety, Environmental Compliance, Quality, Cost, Delivery & People Development.
The role will oversee all critical business functions, e.g., Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, H&S, Environmental, and IT. The Plant Operates 52 weeks / 7 days / 24 hours with approximately 2 timely Plant Shutdown periods for Planned and Regulatory Maintenance.
Due to the level of responsibility the successful candidate must be flexible and able to demonstrate a level of commit commensurate with the role. This will encompass the need to attend site outside normal office hours e.g., weekends or bank holidays, and may require foreign travel.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Manufacturing/Engineering degree or relevant qualification. li>Manufacturing and Senior leadership experience
- Experienced in the implementation of LEAN practices
- Experience/Knowledge working in an IATF16949, ISO9001/14001/45001 environment would be advantageous.
- Proven ability to provide leadership of value-added and highly motivated teams and gaining results through Servant Leadership
- Strong strategic planning, negotiation, empathy, organisational and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple disciplines simultaneously
- Proficient PC skills to include Excel, MS word and PowerPoint
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to then develop reasonable solutions at both the strategic and functional level. < i>Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and proportions to achieve a practical solution, understand and communicate in English, including the ability to follow both verbal and written direction, read, analyse, and interpret most documents, and ensure decisions are made using facts and data.

Commercially aware Plant Manager, responsible for the delivery of concrete via volumetric mixers, ready mix drum mixers and concrete pumps to our valued customers together with the safe, efficient and cost effective running of the depot.
Will require good customer service skills in terms of understanding the customer’s needs and dispatching the right product at the right time. Candidate will need to provide solutions to our customer problems when they occur.
This role is hands on with concrete batching and loading shovel operation. Candidate will need exceptional leadership skills, in particular have the ability to motivate drivers and staff in a fast moving and changing environment in order to get the job done. Full training will be given for the concrete batch plant.
Full clean driving licence (Class 2 licence would be a bonus)

- Lead all aspects of staff management including employee development, training, recruitment, and induction
- Achieving financial objectives by forecasting, having ownership of the sites P&L, preparing the annual budget and initiating corrective action when required
- Ensuring operational standards are in line with best practice and industry benchmark, working alongside the central engineering teams to develop improvements when necessary
To be considered for this Plant Manager role you should have:
- At least 5 years of management experience in the power generation/EFW/biomass sector - Plant, General, Operations or Maintenance management
- Qualified to at least HNC level in relevant engineering discipline e.g., mechanical, electrical, chemical etc.
- Extensive people management experience at a senior level
- Strong financial acumen and experience of preparing and managing budgets
- Experience with contract management
- A strong understanding of HSE aspects – IOSH or NEBOSH would be ideal
