MC Technical Recruitment is currently looking to recruit a Plant Manager for a Renewable Energy Power Station based in Kent.

The main focus of this role will overseeing the safe operation, maintenance and management of the plant. Working closely with key stakeholders ensuring production is optimised in a safe environment, co-ordinating plans, budgets and reports and environmental responsibilities. 

As a Plant Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and deliver business plans for projects that align with company strategy.
  • Monitor project progress, report on performance, and recommend corrective actions where needed.
  • Oversee long-term asset performance, ensuring sustainable financial returns and operational resilience.
  • Manage project operations, ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, Site Licence, and all relevant legislation.
  • Drive operational efficiencies and identify synergies in processes, pricing, and service delivery.
  • Lead and support a site management team, ensuring clear accountability and performance across functions.
  • Inspire and develop a multi-functional, multi-site team, fostering engagement and continuous improvement.

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • Proven experience in power industry preferably renewable energy operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Strong Technical education, marine engineering/mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • Commercially astute with experience in project budgeting, planning and reporting.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for sustainable energy.

You will play a key leadership role within a site team of around 60 , responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and compliant operations while driving continuous improvement and fostering a high-performing culture.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including direct negotiation and engagement with trade unions .
  • Oversee plant performance, resource planning, and infrastructure reliability to ensure consistent delivery to customer and business expectations.
  • Drive team development, motivation, and succession planning across a diverse, skilled workforce.
  • Lead site safety committees, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement projects across production and site management.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Plant or Production Manager within a COMAH, chemical, process, or other industrial manufacturing environment .
  • Strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) focus, with a track record of driving a safety-first culture.
  • Experience in managing trade union negotiations and fostering positive industrial relations.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a track record of engaging and developing teams.
  • Strong operational, strategic and analytical thinking - able to balance technical and people leadership.
  • HNC / HND or equivalent in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • A NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous - or a willingness to obtain one.
