As a client-facing Principal/Lead Engineer , you'll leverage your extensive knowledge in electrical engineering for process plants. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality electrical engineering tasks, on schedule, and within budget, ensuring client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Your role will encompass a range of critical activities, including:
- Providing expert electrical discipline technical input for projects and proposals, including the preparation, checking, and approval of all engineering documentation.
- Effectively allocating work and ensuring seamless delivery against project plans.
- Ensuring strict compliance with all applicable national and international codes of practice, legislation, and company/client standards and procedures.
- Preparing comprehensive equipment and materials requisitions for a wide array of electrical equipment, such as HV and LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, VFDs, Motors, power factor correction, trace-heating, and lighting .
- Developing detailed installation scopes of work.
- Reviewing supplier quotations and preparing thorough technical bid assessments.
Required Competencies
We're looking for proficiency in some or all of the following areas:
- HV (33kV and below) system design .
- HV protection systems , including protection schematics, grading studies, and protection settings schedules.
- Detailed design of plants with large electrical networks .
- Earthing calculations and system design .
- Power system analysis , including fault level calculations and load flows.
- Specifying electrical equipment for use in hazardous areas .
Qualifications and Requirements
- A Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electronic / Electrical / Control Engineering). Apprenticeships may be considered for exceptional candidates.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body, or demonstrable evidence of being close to achieving these professional titles.

Your new role
As an Electrical EngineeringTechnician, you will be responsible for delivering both reactive andplanned maintenance across a range of operational assets and sitefacilities. While the role is primarily electrically biased, it will alsoinvolve some mechanical tasks. You will play a key role in fault diagnosis,repairs, and supporting site upgrades and improvement projects.
You will also be involved inmanaging and updating the Computerised Maintenance Management System(CMMS), ensuring all maintenance activities are accurately recorded andcompleted to a high standard.
Keyresponsibilities
- Perform electrical maintenance, inspections, repairs, and minor installations.
- Review and update site electrical drawings and documentation.
- Carry out isolations and fault-finding on electrical systems and support mechanical troubleshooting where possible.
- Maintain accurate records of all engineering and maintenance activities.
- Manage electrical tasks within the CMMS, including both in-house and contracted works.
- Oversee annual electrical inspections, including scope development, contractor selection, and on-site coordination.
- Support the Engineering Manager with electrical projects, upgrades, and change management processes.
- Supervise electrical contractors on-site, ensuring compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
- Contribute to HSE intervention plans related to EC&I as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an industrial environment, ideally within Oil & Gas or process industries.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- CompEx Electrical (Ex01-Ex04) certification.
- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (minimum).
- Membership of a recognised professional body is desirable.
- Strong understanding of process safety and maintenance best practices.
