Our Private Business team specialise in providing corporate tax advice to privately owned and Private Equity backed businesses together with owners and management teams on all aspects of tax in the UK and abroad including shareholder issues.

Our Private Business team specialise in providing corporate tax advice to privately owned and Private Equity backed businesses together with owners and management teams on all aspects of tax in the UK and abroad including shareholder issues.

Our curious minds and collaborative spirit enables us to work together, helping clients navigate the ever changing tax landscape. As part of the team you’ll be actively encouraged to consult, to share specialist knowledge and new ideas as we continue to innovate to deliver best in class service.

A key role in a growing team, working closely with experienced Private Business Partners and Directors to develop new client relationships (including many well-known household names), identifying, and pursuing new opportunities from within our market.

What Your Days Will Look Like

  • Ownership for a diverse and broad portfolio of client engagements, including privately owned and private equity portfolio companies advising on tax technical issues
  • Developing significant market relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborating across the firm when delivering complex projects / events
  • Maintaining an expert level of relevant tax knowledge (both UK and overseas) staying including changes in tax law and legislation.

The successful candidate will possess initiative, drive, and the proven ability to work with and help lead a growing team, possessing the personal skills to maintain deep, trusted long-term relationships with our clients and contacts in the market.

  • Must possess a ACA and/or CTA qualification (or international equivalent)
  • Relevant and up-to-date UK (and some overseas) tax knowledge
  • Varied experience of more complex tax issues facing privately or family-owned businesses, private equity portfolio companies and business owners.
  • Project management skills - able to manage several client projects simultaneously
  • Stakeholder management and coaching ethos
  • Excellent written communication - including reports, technical memos

Issue Simple Cautions and manage cases in line with PACE, RIPA, and local enforcement policies.

Maintain accurate records using council IT systems, responding to customer enquiries and correspondence in a timely manner.

Contribute to responses for Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, member enquiries, and service reports.

Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to provide joined-up support to residents.

Undertake project work, service reviews, and process improvements as required.

Requirements:

Experience in private sector housing inspections and enforcement.

Familiarity with DFG processes, adaptations, or grant administration.

Competence in interpreting housing legislation and writing enforcement documents.

In this role you will actively prevent and relieve homelessness by delivering high-quality housing advice and support, with a specific focus on developing and utilising private sector accommodation options to meet housing needs.

What we're looking for:

  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and ensure legal compliance.
  • Proven experience in homelessness prevention casework, including carrying out assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, issuing decision letters, and developing Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs).
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with private landlords and letting agents to identify and secure accommodation for clients at risk of homelessness.
  • Confidence in negotiating tenancy terms and promoting landlord incentive schemes such as rent deposits, bonds, and rent in advance.
  • Capability in supporting clients to secure their own accommodation through affordability advice, tenancy readiness, and budgeting support.
  • Skilled in mediation with landlords, friends or family to prevent eviction or homelessness.
  • Sound understanding of tenancy rights, welfare benefits, and local housing pathways.
  • Able to carry out home visits, working with vulnerable individuals, and collaborating with internal teams and partner agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with accurate and up-to-date case recording.
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation (Parts 6 & 7, HRA 2017)
  • Familiarity with NEC (Northgate), Jigsaw, and Agresso systems
  • Excellent admin, IT, organisational and communication skills

Details:

  • Full-time (37 hrs/week) , hybrid working (up to 2 days per week in the office)
  • Enhanced DBS required; car driver/owner is not essential
