Overview
Mastercard Foundry is the innovation engine of Mastercard and a hub for new product development. We do this by driving product innovation in emerging technologies and interfaces while focusing on developing a point of view to enhance existing solutions and new use-cases. We also focus on building revenue generating ecosystems and flywheels that can be standalone in adjacent segments and markets. Examples of focus areas include commercial payments, new payment flows, real time payments, data and services.
Within Foundry, the Manager, Product Development will be supporting the execution of new to market product development across core payments and services. Role responsibility including identification, execution, and in-market delivery of new products and solutions. The responsibilities will include execution of near-term opportunities that drive significant in year revenue and strategic differentiation for Mastercard, as well as scoping, identification, in-market testing of longer-term product concepts and solutions
Role:
- Engage in idea generation for new to market products and solutions including workshop facilitation and collateral development.
- Contribute to developing product concepts and prototypes and independently own and deliver key tasks associated with it.
- Partner with Product & Engineering partners and our CX&D team on concept validation and market testing and independently own and deliver key tasks associated with it.
- Contribute / own business case development and planning for individual products.
- Own and deliver high quality collateral materials to facilitate internal decision making.
- Lead cross functional workshops and manage follow up actions to completion.
- Partner with CXD, Product and R&D teams by providing prioritized requirements.
- Work within a matrixed organization to influence and drive outcomes within tight timelines.
All About You
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong product development and management experience, including rapid opportunity identification, concept development, business model innovation, and in market testing of global products is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of commercial payment ecosystem and payments globally.
- Previous experience working in Payments innovation space delivering new to market value propositions.
- Critical thinker that is comfortable with technical details, and experience working with R&D teams
- Flair in connecting people and ideas; ability to operate in a matrix environment.
- Right to work in the UK without restriction.

The Role:
Play a key role in technical food development, driving launch-ready projects and converting kitchen recipes into scalable, operational products.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

Lead the hands-on development of new and existing food products, ensuring alignment with briefs and technical standards.
- Collaborate with chefs, procurement, and technical teams to create and refine commercially viable recipes suitable for production.

Adapt recipes to CPU and factory capabilities, solving challenges to deliver optimal results.

Accurately document recipes, preparation methods, yields, nutritional information, and costing according to company standards

Write cooking and reheating instructions and complete product attribute documentation for gate approvals.

Conduct organoleptic and shelf-life testing during development to validate product performance and feasibility.

Manage new product development (NPD) and existing product development (EPD) from concept through to launch, including critical path ownership.

Present products at key stages of development and lead handovers to process and production teams.

Source and validate new raw materials with procurement, ensuring suitability for culinary and operational requirements.

Attend CPU upscale trials and support process development to maintain quality and consistency at scale.

Drive food quality improvement initiatives, including resolving quality issues and customer complaints.

Facilitate and participate in taste panels, benchmarking sessions, and regular product quality reviews.

Prepare and provide samples for presentations, photography, and marketing, including food styling support.

Maintain a clean and organised development kitchen, managing stock and ordering raw materials as needed
Our Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Process or Food Technologist within the food manufacturing industry.
- Qualified degree in a food related discipline – food science, technology, home economics.
- Demonstrates an above standard knowledge of food, ingredients, and culinary practices.
- Highly creative and passionate about food with knowledge of South Asian, Japanese and Korean food trends and good industry awareness.
- Certificate in Food Hygiene
- A proactive personality, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- A methodical approach, be organised with good prioritisation skills, the ability to work to short deadlines and attention to detail.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Can work on multiple projects simultaneously with ease and thriving in a busy fast-paced environment.
