Job Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Forefront RF at an early stage, and have a real impact. We are looking for an experienced Module Reliability Engineer to take ownership of the reliability qualification of our novel RF System-in-Package (SiP) modules. In this hands-on and cross-functional role, you will ensure our technology meets the stringent robustness and reliability requirements of high-volume telecom applications.

As a Module Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that Forefront RF’s novel RF (SiP) modules meet stringent robustness and reliability requirements. You will define, execute, and analyze test plans to validate new materials, assembly processes, packaging schemes under realistic and accelerated conditions.

This role is essential in bridging R&D innovation with product robustness enabling our technology to meet the standards of high-volume telecom customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute reliability qualification plans for new RF modules (incl. thermal cycling, vibration, mechanical shock, moisture sensitivity, etc.).
  • Design and implement custom stress and test setups where needed.
  • Manage external labs or partners for outsourced testing, reliability qualification and failure analysis.
  • Collaborate with design, packaging, and test engineering teams to address and mitigate identified reliability risks.
  • Lead Design-for-Reliability (DfR) reviews in early development stages.
  • Analyse test results using statistical methods (Weibull, MTTF, etc.) to derive product lifetime and identify weak points.
  • Work closely with foundries, assembly and test houses, and customers to support qualification activities and external reliability audits.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards (e.g., JEDEC, ISO 9001).
  • Contribute to the development of reliability documentation and customer reports.

About you:

  • Degree in Electronics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience in reliability engineering within RF, semiconductors, or advanced electronics.
  • Familiar with JEDEC reliability standards and environmental stress testing.
  • Solid understanding of RF (SiP) module architectures and the impact of packaging on performance and reliability.
  • Demonstrated expertise in thermal and mechanical simulation of RF modules and electronic assemblies, using advanced tools to predict stress, fatigue life, and heat distribution under accelerated testing conditions.
  • Experience with failure analysis methods including cross-sectioning, X-ray inspection, SEM/EDX, and other techniques to identify material, mechanical, or process-related defects.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python).

In your role, you shall:
+ Conduct RCM analysis to agreed scope, quality and timescales
+ Review and process change requests initiated as part of continuous improvement processes, i.e., feedback from maintenance execution, failure investigations and reliability studies
+ Ensure proposed changes are compliant with agreed standards
+ Understand the customer requirements and advise on good RCM practice
+ Provide management reporting on progress (KPI's / Close-out reports)
+ Ensure defined RCM tasks are implemented / updated in the relevant tools
+ Maintain and further strengthen the reliability foundations, following a methodological approach.

**Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience:**

COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE

Our client is a world class, global, award winning, established and growing manufacturing business, with strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant.

Working onsite, and with experience gained in a similar role, the successful candidate will be creative, motivated and dynamic. Working as part of an established and highly professional team within a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for developing suitable technical solutions from initial brief, through product design specification, design and development, test and validation with the focus on suitable and sustainable manufacturing.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Producing new and creative product/material/application ideas, approaches, insights, and designs, which profitable, innovative, and anticipate customer needs
  • Preparing and reviewing FMEA and PPAP plans to ensure the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP2) requirements are met and timelines are achieved
  • Conducting feasibility studies with appropriate tools e.g. FEA and recommending design or material improvements
  • Selecting appropriate manufacturing methods for new products/materials to ensure the start of series production (SOP) meeting both customer and company objectives; provides in-life technical support and management of any product reliability and quality queries.
  • Using analysis to identify and implement engineering methodologies that meet design intent and product performance expectations
  • Inputting and analysing numerical data. identifying patterns and relationships to identify and implement engineering methodologies that meet design intent and product performance expectations
  • Due to the nature of the business and here will be a need to travel overseas on occasion as per the needs of the business.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Preferably BEng qualified within mechanical engineering, OR Industrial design / Materials Science (with hands on product development / design experience.
  • Product design experience (Product design involving plastic/rubber/composites and compression, injection or injection transfer moulding experience would be advantageous)
  • Experience of working in cross-discipline teams
  • Experience of working within a high-volume manufacturing environment, ideally automotive
  • Advantageous to be experienced in prototype/product testing and benchmarking, project and budgetary management, IP, contract review, product liability/warranty processes, and VA/VE, Lean, and Kaizen tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to persuade, influence and, when appropriate, challenge with tact and diplomacy

Details of Package:

Salary 44,000 to 49,000PA + Competitive Benefits inc. Generous paid holidays, and Flexible working. Dayshift / Site Based with some flexible working around daily core hours.

Our client, a engineering business with a global footprint, have a exciting new position for a Development Engineer to join their team.

As the Product Development Engineer, you will be expected to work as part of a team to solve complex fluid power related problems, there will be an emphasis on new product development, but also to develop and enhance existing products.In this role, the ideal candidate will be able to collaborate and work as part of an engineering team, youwill also spend a portion of yourtime in a hands on production environment. The ideal product development engineer will also be working with external customers which may sometimes require travel to their location.

Product Design and Development

  • Design and development of hydraulic components and systems
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using advanced CAD software
  • Utilize simulation software such as CFD and FEA
  • Design systems that optimize energy consumption and performance
  • Work with remote monitoring and associated sensors and hardware
  • Understand fluid power application requirements in various markets.
  • Assist production in analysing failures to determine root cause and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop test procedures and conduct prototype validation testing.
  • Work with manufacturing partners and vendors to develop and update production processes and specifications to ensure quality and performance of components.

Candidate

As the ideal product development engineer, your role will be primarily office based (no remote working), you will need to visit/work on the shop floor from time to time, so there is a degree of physical work involved.

You will ideally be degree educated in mechanical engineering, or related, have experience in fluid design or working within fluid power industry and a track record in successful engineering projects.

With all this experience it will be a given that you have the technical and soft skills to be a success in the role.

This is a permanent role where you will be expected to work regular office hours with a lunchtime finish on a Friday ( 36 hours ).
