About The Role
Primarily responsible for editing and publishing digital content across the Telegraph's Business, Money and Tech output. This production role ensures our written content - across news, features, comment, analysis and newsletters - is produced in a timely way to the highest possible standards. It will include uploading breaking news from the wires, and the chance to work across the website and social channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring copy is accurate, well presented and optimised for a digital audience.
- Writing sharp, digital-friendly headlines. Make use of the best pictures, video and other multimedia assets.
- Sourcing data to commission graphics, as well as illustrations.
- May be asked to manage digital channels including social media feeds.
- Liaise with the Digital Business Editor and Social/Community Editor to ensure priorities are met.
- Generating creative solutions to presenting content online.
- Contributing to The Telegraph’s subscription strategy.
Key Skills
- Experience of writing and sub-editing stories on digital platforms.
- Experience of working in news at regional, trade or national level within business and/or personal finance.
- Digital publishing skills needed, including knowledge of creating embeds such as info boxes, polls, number graphics, etc.
- Enthusiasm, imagination and digital ideas are all essential.
- Quick, accurate subbing.
- Able to respond well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Understanding of social media and SEO.
- Strong news sense and judgement.

About The Role
Responsible for sub-editing and publishing digital Features, Lifestyle and Magazine longreads across The Telegraph. You will ensure our content - both reactive and longer term - is produced to the highest quality for a digital audience. Your production should optimise content across our digital platforms, driving traffic and subscriptions through exemplary copy, headlines and visuals.
Key Responsibilities

Key Skills

Role purpose and overview
You will be responsible for editing and publishing digital content on The Telegraph's Recommended channel and other online channels.
Working full time Monday to Friday, you will ensure our content (chiefly product reviews) is produced in the most effective way for a digital audience - so that it
- attracts traffic
- drives subscriptions
- drives affiliate revenue
- sparkles on site and on social media.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure copy is accurate, well presented and optimised for a digital audience.
- Build articles in the Telegraph Recommended house style. Source product photographs and edit them using Adobe Photoshop.
- Ensure all affiliate links are correct and prices up to date.
- Improve the user experience. This means writing useful, search-optimised and snappy headlines and making use of polls, infographics, video and other multimedia assets to keep readers engaged.
- Be creative with structure and editorial tools to enhance the written copy.
- Liaise closely with the commercial SEO team on daily and weekly refreshes of existing product reviews to ensure that they always come at the top of Google searches.
Essential vs desirable skills required for the role
Essential:
- Quick, accurate subbing and an eye for small details (especially in links).
- Proven experience of creating and editing stories on digital platforms.
- Experience of working in features or lifestyle at regional, trade or national level.
- Understanding of social media and SEO.
- Knowledge of how best to present content for digital platforms - what content will appear first in search, how to structure articles for mobile readers.
- Familiarity with the world of consumer technology, the major brands and their major products. Having a reasonable idea of how the key technologies work will help you spot mistakes in copy.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise deadlines.
- Proven ability to respond well under pressure and deliver a high volume of content at pace
Desirable:
- A good understanding of the Telegraph audience.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience writing product reviews.
- Sometimes we have to create our own photo and short video content. An ability to do this will be a bonus.
