Civil Engineering Technician
Lisburn, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland
30,000 - 40,000 (DOE) + Benefits | Independent Consultancy

We're working with a long-established, independent civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Lisburn, who are looking to bring a Civil Engineering Technician into their established office of around 20 staff.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a tight-knit team delivering quality work on a local scale - no red tape, no layers of bureaucracy, just the chance to take real ownership of your work and play a key role in the successful delivery of projects.

The business works across a broad range of civil infrastructure projects including residential developments, commercial schemes, and education/healthcare sites. As a Technician, you'll be producing drawings and technical information for drainage, roads, earthworks and utilities - using PDS/Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

You'll be working closely with Engineers and Directors on live projects, seeing things through from concept to completion and getting real exposure to the technical and commercial side of the work including site visits and client liaison.

What you'll be doing:

  • Preparing drawings and detailing for a range of civil infrastructure schemes (drainage, roads, levels, utilities)

  • Supporting engineers with civil design using AutoCAD and PDS/Civil 3D

  • Liaising with local authorities, utility companies and other consultants where required

  • Helping compile design packages for planning, technical approvals and construction

  • Attending occasional site visits and team meetings (all local to the office)

  • Working closely with senior engineers and directors in a small, supportive team environment

What they're looking for:

  • HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar technical qualification

  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience preferred (training can be provided if needed)

  • Previous experience producing detailed drawings for drainage and road design

  • Familiarity with DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, Building Control and NI Roads Service standards would be ideal

  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop

  • Someone who enjoys being part of a team and wants to take ownership of their work

  • Based within commutable distance to Lisburn - flexible working is available, but this is very much a locally focused role

What's on offer:

  • Salary up to 40,000 depending on experience

  • 30 days holiday (inc. stats)

  • Flexible working (office-based with hybrid options)

  • Strong development opportunities and hands-on mentoring

  • A genuinely supportive environment with no micromanagement

  • Real variety in workload and the chance to see your work built locally

If you're a Civil Engineering Technician who enjoys being part of a smaller consultancy where your voice is heard and your work matters, this could be a great move.
