We are seeking enthusiastic Engineering Managers to join our expanding Rail Engineering Services team in Belfast and to lead on the technical delivery of our diverse portfolio of rail engineering projects across the UK & Ireland, and overseas.

+ Leading, directing, and coordinating multi-disciplinary technical teams, and supporting the resolution of complex technical problems;
+ Managing client and stakeholder relationships to achieve desired project outcomes;
+ Setting an example for health, safety and welfare on your projects and instilling a strong safety culture within the delivery team;
+ Leading on the development and management of client requirements and other assurance outputs i.e. assumptions and departures;
+ Leading design coordination activities such as integrated design reviews and promoting digitalisation to aid delivery;
+ Working alongside Project and Design Managers to ensure the technical delivery of Rail projects;
+ Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to aspiring engineering managers.

You will work on exciting and inspiring projects for a variety of infrastructure owners, national and local governments, public and private sector clients including Translink, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, MetroLink, Iarnród Éireann-Irish Rail, Network Rail, HS2, regional transport bodies, operators and contractors. You will be part of the Engineering Management and Project Management Service Line - a team of professionally qualified, talented and diverse individuals that work together to:
+ Deliver multi-disciplinary projects for a number of important clients;
+ Undertake work across the full design lifecycle, from early concept stage to detailed design and subsequently supporting delivery contractors on site;
+ Mentor others in the team, supporting their development by sharing technical knowledge and experience;
+ Provide clients with technical excellence through our delivery of projects.
The role will be based in our city centre office in Belfast. It is essential that the successful candidate is resident in Belfast.
We are actively seeking Engineering Managers looking to take the next step in their development with greater independence in how they deliver their work, through to candidates with demonstrable multidisciplinary delivery experience; proven leaders that have a track record of developing and maintaining client relationships.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:**
+ A track record of successfully delivering multi-disciplinary projects as an Engineering Manager, or as an Assistant Engineering Manager / Design Manager;
+ An engineering specialism and experience in railway engineering design;
+ Strong experience in at least one area of the full project lifecycle from initial feasibility studies to detailed design and implementation;
+ A strong understanding of CSM, CDM and other health and safety regulations e.g. Irish Construction Regs, and the application of "safe by design" techniques;
+ An ability to manage multiple workstreams and teams, balancing priorities, making value and delivery judgements / decisions to meet or exceed our client's expectations;
+ Technical knowledge to be able to challenge project teams on outputs / deliverables;
+ Experience undertaking roles with specific engineering responsibilities, e.g. CEM, CRE, DPE or PE, or equivalent functions
+ Chartered or incorporated registration with a relevant professional engineering institution, or can demonstrate you are working towards this;
+ Understanding of client engineering assurance processes;
+ Understanding of railway standards.

+ Experience across the full project lifecycle from initial feasibility studies to detailed design and implementation;
+ Experience of engineering management of consents-led schemes;
+ Experience of mentoring and developing staff.

**Job Description**
**AECOM Technical Services is currently looking for an experienced Program Management Director to join our team, leading on a complex program in Lima, Peru.**
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**
+ Lead and manage rail infrastructure program that is mega in size (multi-billion dollar), have high risk reward, are of high strategic value and/or have the highest level of execution complexity.
+ Provides the organization with technical leadership and strategic direction for program delivery globally.
+ Champion to oversee and provide assurance for ethical and safe working practices.
+ Drives innovation in program management approaches and methodology to achieve marketplace differentiation.
+ Works with Global Business Lines, Regional leadership and Market Sector Leaders to identify new business opportunities and develop solutions to address them.
+ Identifies areas of high risk and pro-actively takes actions to positively impact program outcomes.
+ Contributes to the global learning and people development strategy for program management, including identification of talent gaps and resourcing plans.
+ Assess long-term and disruptive trends in their area of expertise. Proposes skill development approaches and workforce planning to deliver capabilities for the future.
+ Actively supports the attraction and retention of talent across area of expertise.
+ Accountable for overall financial success and delivery of AECOM Program Management agreement
+ Advise AECOM clients on the benefits and drawbacks of potential delivery models for the projects within the program, including PPP, D/BB, DB, DBFOM and variants, Progressive DB, Alliance and variants
+ Mobilize and manage resources required to support all phases of a program
+ Lead and manage the client's role in P3 and Progressive Design Build contracts to fulfill client expectations
+ Support market engagements and market sounding activities
+ Manage scope, budget and schedule, including contract administration, claims and quality compliance
+ Ensure that appropriate risk management analysis, status reporting and issues management processes are in place.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum requirements:**
+ BA/BS + 15 EXTENSIVE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, in program management inclusive of at least 6 (six) years of recent experience in a Senior Leadership position ideally serving as program management oversight or similar role for leading a minimum of two large infrastructure projects or programs of $600 Million+ Specific professional experience leading Project Management Offices (PMO) in the railway sector.
+ Verified professional experience from the date of graduation or issuance of professional license.
+ Project Manager in managing at least two large rail infrastructure projects
+ High level of English and Spanish proficiency.
+ Confirmed participation in at least three (3) railway projects, serving as PMO Railway Director or PMO Railway Manager.
**Additional Information**
**Preferred Requirements:**
+ BA/BS with 20+ years of relevant experience
+ Master's Degree in a relevant discipline.
+ PMI-PgMP, APM-RPP or CMAA-CCM Certification (or equivalent) preferred
+ Strong technical capability including all project phases from design, planning, construction, operations and maintenance preferably large program/projects
+ Considerable experience of delivering in collaborative working arrangements
+ Demonstrable experience of delivering targeted Project benefits
+ Demonstrated experience in extensive public outreach, agency coordination, third party stakeholder management and program management
+ Strong knowledge of relevant rail standards applicable in industry guidelines and current transit- oriented practices
+ Expertise in managing and coordinating interfaces all disciplines (e.g., environmental, mechanical, civil, structural)
+ Experienced in developing and mobilizing project delivery systems and optimizing processes and procedures
+ Demonstrated experience of successfully integrating complex programs and managing/coordinating interfaces across all disciplines (e.g., program/project controls, environmental, H&S, design, construction)
+ Recognized globally as a leader in program management within the industry
+ Able to demonstrate an extensive industry-wide network and is well known for having successfully shaped, led or transformed multiple large or very large programs.
+ Has a deep knowledge and application of all aspects of the program management competencies needed for success on very complex programs, educates and mentors others and has guided and facilitated others in all aspects of the identified program competencies in very complex programs.
+ Demonstrates exemplary leadership attributes that provide role modelling for others.

The Purpose of this Position at Trainline

Lead Trainline's Payments and Rail Fraud Operations Team, ensuring seamless and reliable payment processing across platforms and partners, while building strong relationships with Train Operating Companies on fraud prevention and revenue protection. You'll define and deliver a clear vision and roadmap to strengthen key success metrics in payments, support industry partners in preventing losses, and drive continuous improvement. As a hands-on leader, you'll oversee the day-to-day running and development of the team, empowering them to deliver impact at scale.

As the Operations Manager for this team at Trainline, you will…

  • Lead and mentor a team of Rail Fraud and Payment Specialists, fostering a data-driven culture that delivers better outcomes for partners and customers.
  • Define and deliver a clear roadmap for tackling rail fraud and abuse, while optimising payment performance.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure strategies align with Trainline's wider business goals.
  • Define and monitor key fraud, loss, and recovery metrics across rail and payments (e.g. exemptions, authentication, authorisation, cost of payments).
  • Identify trends and anomalies to mitigate risks and uncover opportunities.
  • Enhance both internal and external fraud reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility.
  • Increase automation across repetitive tasks to boost team efficiency and scalability.
  • Partner with Engineering, Finance, and Product teams to drive cross-functional initiatives.
  • Act as a key escalation point for external partners.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear and impactful way.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all data security and privacy regulations.
