Store Manager role at JOE & THE JUICE

Job Summary

Position title: Store Manager

Reports to: Regional Manager

As a Store Manager, you are responsible for the daily operation of your store, ensuring the highest performance possible in all areas within the operation through effectively sparring with your District Manager. You will adhere to market-specific legal requirements, company policies, risk, and compliance structures. You are expected to have a full overview of your store and lead your team members ensuring efficient workflows, great guest experiences, and high-quality products.

Your overall success in this position depends on the degree to which you are able to lead, develop, and retain a highly engaged team, where all operational in-store requirements are followed in order to deliver best-in-class guest experiences turning regular customers into beloved returning guests. Ultimately you are accountable for meeting the cost budget, reaching the store’s sales targets, and EBITDA through existing and new company initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Value-Based Leadership: Effectively lead your team members in alignment with company virtues and operational principles.
  • Recruitment: Responsible for the recruitment, pre-boarding, and onboarding of team members, and hereby the optimal team positioning, and future talent pipeline.
  • Employee Engagement: Develop and motivate your team through development plans and feedback, in-store training, team meetings, and securing employee engagement score meets or exceeds the true benchmark score.
  • Guest Experience: Ensure a guest-first approach, building strong guest relations through your local community in accordance with our brand behavior principles and hereby increase overall guest loyalty.
  • Operational Requirements: Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy working environment by enforcing hygiene, health, and safety standards while ensuring brand and highest local standards and ratings are maintained.
  • Shift Planning and Structures: Create an optimal store shift plan considering seasonality, local events, and other circumstances impacting the store traffic and hereby ensure an ideal workflow in accordance with company standards, and store budget. Managing employee absence, onboarding, off-boarding, and ensuring working time follows contractual obligations, union agreements, and legal requirements.
  • Stock Handling: Full ownership of stock handling, including but not limited to counting, and ordering to ensure optimal inventory and hereby the waste percentage is not exceeding the specified monthly target.
  • Performance Management: Accountable for building sales and optimizing store EBITDA to achieve defined KPI targets.
  • KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
  • Operational Requirements: Hygiene standard, pest and fire safety control, and overall 4-wall compliance
  • Employee Engagement: Employee engagement score, employee turnover, and quick quits
  • Guest Experience: Returning guests, app conversions, complaints, waiting time, product availability, store audits.
  • Store Performance: Sales target, waste, salary cost, productivity, overhead cost, and 4-wall EBITDA

The Cashier Assistant’s will be responsible for welcoming and assisting members until the end of their Costco shopping experience. Prepare and dispose items for both the cashier and the member.

The duties will include:

  • Greets members and provides assistance in putting merchandises onto the conveyor belt.
  • Ensures members have found everything they needed and assists them if not.
  • Answers queries regarding merchandises and promotions.
  • Packs goods into boxes and conveniently places them into trolleys.
  • Offers members to load merchandises into car if needed.
  • Assists cashier when barcodes cannot be scanned or merchandises need to be changed.
  • Collects and counts cigarettes from the cigarette cage for security and regulation matters.
  • Makes sure that safety and security procedures are being followed.
  • Performs setup and closing duties for the department, such as returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers and cleaning area.
  • Maintains a clean and tidy working environment and disposes of any hazardous material.

  • Provides prompt and courteous member service at all times.

To be suitable for the Cashier Assistant’s role you will be:

  • Flexible with regards to working part time hours (minimum of 24 hours up to 40 hours per week) between the hours of Monday-Sunday

  • Energetic and familiar with working in a fast-paced environment
  • Good presentation and communication skills

We are looking for a Retail Store Manager to join us in Chelmsford, Essex!

You will manage the operation of the store in an efficient and effective manner with the objective of maximising store profitability and in accordance with the Co-operative's policies and rules.

Retail Store Manager – Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain appropriate levels of stock availability to customers.
  2. Implement effective stock and order procedures to maximise sales within agreed stockholding targets.
  3. Implement and maintain stock ranges.
  4. Ensure merchandise is well presented and promotional material is effectively displayed.
  5. Keep levels of stock losses to a minimum via effective in-store stock control.
  6. Record and report all known losses such as wastage, freezer breakdowns, burglary, and theft.
  7. Undertake regular stock takes in an effective and efficient manner, monitoring stock levels and losses.
  8. Maintain the security of the store, its contents, and staff in accordance with the Food Store Policy & Procedures Manual.
  9. Maintain effective cash, banking, and till controls, ensuring cash in tills and on the premises are kept to a minimum and cash banked is maximum.
  10. Ensure the store is maintained to a high level of cleanliness and presentation.
  11. Ensure any remedial and maintenance work required is identified and communicated to the appropriate party.
  12. Participate in the recruitment and selection of store supervisors and assistants.
  13. Undertake effective induction processes for all new supervisors and general assistants.
  14. Ensure that all store staff are trained to an acceptable level in all store procedures.
  15. Identify any training and development needs that may need to be undertaken off-site.
  16. Ensure all store personnel adhere to Co-operative policies and procedures, undertaking appropriate disciplinary action where required.
  17. Ensure that the store is adequately staffed, supervised, and managed during the hours of occupancy.
  18. Ensure that all staff holiday, hours of work, and sickness are recorded properly and communicated to payroll.
  19. Ensure that every effort is made by all staff to meet the needs of the customer and promote effective customer service.
  20. Ensure compliance with all legal requirements including Health & Safety Practices, Fire Precautions, Food Hygiene Controls, licensing Laws, Check Scanning, and ensure completion of the Daily Operations Book.
  21. Ensure that the store operates within agreed budgetary cost constraints and meets levels of budgetary turnover and profitability.
  22. Abide by and carry out the Co-operative's Health & Safety policy.
  23. Abide by and carry out the Co-operative's Employment Policy.
  24. Carry out other duties as may be required by the business from time to time.
Retail Store Manager – What we need from you:

We are looking for an experienced Manager with previous experience in Convenience Retail.

  1. Personal Alcohol Licence is an advantage.
  2. Stock Control experience is an advantage.
  3. Food Waste Control experience is an advantage.
