The Position

  • As the CAD Technician you will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D drawings based upon project specifications.
  • li>Converting sketches, as-built records, and technical details into thorough and accurate digital drawings.
  • Working closely with project engineers to develop detailed designs and schematics, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and adherence to project specifications, and company drafting standards.

  • Build up engineering and design expertise within the design departments, providing ad-hoc support where required and to supplement career development.

Your core activities will include:

  • Perform ad-hoc drafting of sectional drawings and 3D arrangements.
  • Conduct ad-hoc visits to sites to support on drafting activities.

The Person

As the CAD Technician it is essential that you have a strong technical understanding of relevant CAD software, understand engineering drawings, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams.

  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and other relevant software packages.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation – i.e. schematics and layouts for district heating, communal heating, and hot water systems
  • < i>Understanding of drafting standards and procedures, and is a detail orientated individual who has the ability to maintain high CAD drafting standards.
  • Effective communicator and collaborative individual who can work closely with the company’s design engineering team

Role:
 
Working within a dynamic and well-established team based in Trentham, as the CAD Technician, you will work both autonomously and collaboratively, managing various projects at one time. This role will entail a combination of both design and technical duties, as well as regular client communication and project management.
 
You will have the full support of the wider CAD team and managers with excellent in-depth training, both initially and ongoing.
 
In addition to the above, as the CAD Technician you will:
 
  • Manage and plan multiple projects.
  • Work closely with clients and other departments to understand design requirements.
  • Take verbal direction and implement into designs/drawings and calculations from conception through to the final work.
  • Prepare and produce documents and CAD layout drawings.
  • Proof-read designs and drawings, identifying any errors and amending, as well as drafting and revising various aspects of designs, based on feedback too.
  • Assist clients and colleagues with technical support and advise.
  • Keep systems up to date with relevant information and communications.
  • Take a proactive approach to training, development and learning.

Requirements
 
As the CAD Technician, you will live locally to Trentham and ideally have experience of working on a project basis, requiring you to be an organised and hardworking individual, with excellent customer service at the forefront too. In addition to this you will also present a proficiency in AutoCAD or 2D CAD software.
 
In addition to the above, you will have:
 
  • Experience of managing customers and projects would be ideal.
  • Understand deadlines with the capabilities of working towards final end dates.
  • Very high attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Confident communicator across written and verbal conversations.
