  • Resolving breakdowns, carryout PM’s and work on project / improvement works with a view to minimizing production downtime.

  • Lock off any dangerous machinery immediately/ or repair and notify.
  • Actively seek to undertake PMs on offline machinery where time allows.

  • Actively gain as much information as possible from production personnel regarding the fault on the machine to speed up the fault-finding process.

  • Ensure all communications with external persons are conducted in a professional manner which reflects the company profile.

Qualifications, skills and experience


To be successful in this role we are looking for the right behaviours and competencies as well as a proven track in a similar position.  The ideal candidate will ideally have the following:
 

  • HNC, City & Guilds or time served apprentice with appropriate electrical engineering qualifications.
  • Experience within a similar role ideally gained within a food manufacturing environment, if not food, experience within any manufacturing environment is highly desirable.

Position Summary:

*Perform Scheduled Heavy Maintenance and modification activities on the rolling stock in accordance with the vehicle maintenance instructions.
*Undertake servicing and preparation of the rolling stock.
*Undertake driving duties within depot confines in accordance with the depot operating procedures and instructions.
*Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities.

What does the role look like?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join the Safran team at our Banbury site, within the Composites Value Stream. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of plant equipment and building facilities, supporting site development and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with a collaborative mindset, a proactive attitude, and a passion for engineering excellence.


What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Service and maintain existing plant equipment and building facilities in line with preventative maintenance standards and procedures.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and carry out reactive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot CNC machines.
  • Install and modify new equipment and safety systems.
  • Calibrate various equipment and machinery.
  • Support the movement and re-organisation of production lines.
  • Install services to support site development.
  • Assist in the implementation of changes to manufacturing processes.
  • Provide practical engineering support for a variety of tasks.
  • Produce work instructions for specific maintenance tasks.

Essential skills:

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in an electrical or mechanical discipline (or similar).
  • Strong independent working skills across both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
  • Proven experience maintaining CNC machines.


Desirable skills:

  • Ability to understand a wide range of engineering functions and procedures.
  • Effective communicator who can liaise with people at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a logical, systematic approach.
  • Experience in an electrical maintenance or engineering technician role.
  • Ability to prioritise breakdowns and reduce factory downtime.
  • Familiarity with PLC controls, CMS software, and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Proactive and collaborative team member with a continual improvement mindset.

We're seeking skilled Maintenance Technicians to join our team at a newly launched, state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in Staffordshire. This cutting-edge facility features advanced automation, including an automated storage and retrieval system designed to enhance e-commerce operations.
This role operates on a Panama shift pattern, offering a structured schedule that balances work and time off across days and nights.
As a Maintenance Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining materials handling equipment (MHE) and other key assets, ensuring the smooth operation and productivity of the site. Your work will directly impact throughput and efficiency, making you an essential part of our success.

Key Responsibilities:
* Prioritise health & safety in all tasks, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
* Perform planned preventative maintenance across a wide range of equipment.
* Respond swiftly to breakdowns, communicate effectively, and resolve issues efficiently.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by analysing breakdowns and suggesting enhancements.
* Maintain high equipment availability for internal stakeholders.
* Assist in managing external contractors on site.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
* Proficient in planned preventative maintenance systems.
* Skilled in fault finding within MHE and automation systems.
* Able to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
* Experienced in conveyor maintenance and motor controllers/inverters.
* Completed a full engineering apprenticeship and/or hold NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

Desirable Experience:
* Familiarity with sortation machines.
* Maintenance and configuration of barcode scanners.
* Experience with print and apply machines.
* Fault finding in building systems (HVAC, dock doors, plumbing, electrical, general maintenance).
