A range of Safety Engineers needed on a long term UK Defence Programme into MOD.
The role(s) are based out of MOD Abbeywood on a hybrid working basis.
The work will entail the below:
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct system safety assessments in accordance with MOD safety standards (e.g., JSP 454, JSP 520, JSP 518).
Develop and maintain safety case reports and supporting documentation.
Lead or support Hazard Identification and Analysis (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, FMECA, FTA).
Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation
Engage with multi-disciplinary teams, including design, systems, and human factors engineers.
Support safety assurance through project life cycles (CADMID/CADMIT).
Interface with customers, suppliers, and regulators to communicate safety positions.
Participate in audits, reviews, and safety committees.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related field.
Familiarity with MOD acquisition and safety processes (e.g., ASEMS, POSMS).
Understanding of ALARP principles and risk management
Strong report writing and communication skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on critical defence infrastructure within a highly skilled team, supporting the delivery of essential systems on Royal Navy assets.
The contract will initially run for 3 months , with strong potential for extension on a rolling basis, depending on performance and project progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication, installation, modification, and maintenance of pipework systems on marine vessels and infrastructure.
- Working with a variety of materials including copper , CuNi (copper-nickel) , and stainless steel .
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and isometric diagrams.
- Conducting pipe bending to required tolerances and specifications.
- Carrying out hydrostatic and pressure testing as required.
- Supporting system integration and commissioning phases.
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards, including working in confined spaces and at height .
- Maintaining quality assurance standards and documentation as per MOD and industry regulations.
Required Experience & Skills
- Time-served or NVQ Level 3 qualified Coppersmith / Pipefitter
- Proven track record of working in marine or naval engineering environments
- Skilled in copper and CuNi pipework fabrication and installation
- Ability to work from detailed technical drawings
- Familiarity with MOD or defence-grade standards and processes
