Senior Electrical Engineer – Contract – Remote

Location: Remote

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Renewable Energy and Nuclear sectors. This role is remote working and is deemed to be outside IR35. The successful applicant must be a British passport holder and hold current Security Clearance at BPSS level or higher .  

Role & Responsibilities

• Undertake design and checking of deliverables according to discipline and area of expertise.
li>Checking the quality of subcontractor design work to ensure compliance with agreed client design specifications.
• Preparation and checking of deliverables including drawings, schedules, datasheets, specifications, (input to control philosophies and narratives if applicable).
li>Must understand wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1-line and 3-line AC drawings, AC & DC schematics, and be able to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations
• Participation in design review, 3D Model Reviews, Value Engineering, Risk Management workshops,
• Design and testing of simulation software devices for complete project simulation.
• Responsible for engineering design and assessment in line with client expectations as well as supporting others within the team.
• Will be required to provide input into HAZOP / HAZIDs.

Key Skills & Knowledge

• Must be degree qualified, chartered status desired but not essential.
• Experience of designing electrical equipment, preferably in the nuclear industry.
• Experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochem, or Renewable Energy industries also considered relevant.
• Experience of electrical equipment and its application in conventional and safety applications.
• Experience in relevant design standards and protocols.

Security Architect

+ Requires current DV Clearance

+ Initial 9 month contract but expected to last 2 years +

+ Inside IR35 - rates are 650 to 725 per day

+ Hybrid working - expectation is it will be predominantly remote working

The Security Architect will create and design security for the solution, covering the following:

• Working with the Solution Design Authority to provide security input into the development and refinement of OpNET's technological roadmap and High Level Design (HLD) for the solution
• Determining the interoperability, dependencies, and interactions between the infrastructure, platform, and the software environment from a security perspective
• Providing security input into developing, architecting, and documenting Intermediate Level Design (ILD) infrastructure solutions for the Development team to implement, ensuring their coherence across the OpNET solution and compliance with applicable security standards and policies
• Reviewing and approving Low and Detailed Level Design (LLD and DLD) solutions and supporting artefacts to ensure compliance with applicable security standards
• Identifying vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies for these
• Reviewing any 3rd Party services for security compliance to MOD policy and industry best practices
• Help to define and document security elements of the Architectural runway, setting the direction for Platform and cyber teams. (to include logging, AV, Cyber Defence, FW config etc.) as required

Essential skills

• Detailed understanding of security architecture and experience in applying it to the following:
• Solution design of secure hardware and software solutions, demonstrating successful delivery on complex, large scale programmes utilising emerging technologies where possible.
• Delivering against high pressure timelines and in complex organisations.
• Writing security requirements and producing detailed security designs.
• Conducting rational product selections against complex security requirements,
• Demonstrable experience, expert knowledge, and understanding of applying security architectural expertise within the the following technical environment:
• VMware's Virtualised Desktop Infrastructure (Horizon) product set.
• Virtualisation technologies such as VMware ESXi 6.5, vCentre 6.5, vSAN
• Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019 core operating systems.
• Additional Microsoft based technologies such as Exchange, Skype, SQL, and Group Policy.
• Microsoft Windows 10, various Linux implementations from thick client to zero client VDI solutions.
• Several years' experience in providing security architecture expertise to the design and delivery of:
• Public and Private cloud architectures utilising Software Defined Datacentre (SDDC) techniques.
• Government Grade Cryptography Provisioning and Management
• Security implementations such as PKI and proxy services e.g. ADFS in line with MOD Security assurance processes.
• Past experience of working with accredited secure solutions within the UK Public Sector.
• Relevant Security / Cyber accreditations
• Proven track record of working with NCSC design patterns.

Desirable skills, qualifications, and experience
In order to deliver this service, it is desirable that individuals have:

• Experience of:
• Working within the public sector, preferably Defence, and ideally with Defence Digital (formerly ISS).
• The design and configuration of Two Factor Authentication Solutions.

Firewall Security Engineer

6 Month Contract

Warwick (Hybrid)

£380/day (Outside IR35)

Firewall Security Engineer needed with active SC Security Clearance and in-depth experience of F5 firewalls. 6 Month Contract based in Warwick (Hybrid).

The vast majority of work is expected to be remote, plus occasional travel to Data Centre sites in the West/South of England, on average once/twice a month.

Working with a global IT Consultancy on large-scale network solutions projects for a Telecoms client.

Key skills, experience + tasks will include:

• Must have in-depth F5 firewalls experience, plus Checkpoint or Juniper firewall security skills.
li>Technical Ownership of a Telecoms end client's Network Security Infrastructure estate, processes, documentation + lifecycle management.
• Acting as the technical point of contact for all Network Security related projects, changes and modifications, including firewall rules base.
• Point of escalation and link to vendor support for Network Security infrastructure incidents.
• Design of customer networks including input into High-Level and Low-Level design (HLD/LLD).
• Technical support, change management (physical/remote), customer inventory management, EOL, hardware, software.

Security Engineer - SC Cleared (or Eligible) - £550 per day - Inside IR35 - Remote - 12 Months initial contract

We are currently working with a leading client in the zero carbon energy sector who are looking to bring on board an experienced Security Engineer to join their security implementation and engineering delivery team.

The Role -

As part of the security engineering team, you'll be:

• Delivering on the security portfolio, with a focus on SASE and firewall estates.
• Working within a SAFe Agile framework, participating in sprints and stand-ups.

Soft Skills & Background -

• Agile/SAFe delivery experience.
• Background in security operations, compliance, risk, or governance.
• Experience working with an MSSP - desirable.
• Exposure to highly regulated industries - Financial Services experience a strong plus.
