Digital Transformation Engagement Lead (Principal Consultant)

Job Description
Do you work in the field of digital, in the broadest sense? We’re looking for both people who consider themselves specialists (such as service designers, delivery managers or software developers) or generalists (playing a key role in making digital change or delivery happen, such as policy makers, strategists or digital team managers).
At Public Digital, we’ll ask you to apply those skills as consultants, but a style of consultancy grounded in lived experience: your lived experience, and the lived experiences of the wider Public Digital team.
Day-to-day, you’ll be an advisor and coach, you’ll facilitate, convene, write and present. If you have specialist skills, you’ll sometimes apply those skills directly as a practitioner-coach - showing by doing, whilst helping our clients learn from the skills and experience you have.
We think Public Digital offers a unique opportunity - allowing those with digital skills and experience to amplify their impact. We think it’s also a unique way to learn, working closely, day-to-day, within teams with rich and broad experience different to your own.
You’ll be asked to be part of multidisciplinary, multi-functional consulting teams, helping our varied clients with a diverse set of challenges and opportunities. From helping them deliver impactful digital services, researching complex new domains, or make tangible progress with large-scale organisational reform and culture change.
Join Public Digital, and do the best work of your life. We are interested in speaking with digital specialists who are keen to use their expertise to help organisations drive digital change. You will be surrounded a community who are passionate about public purpose, and you will experience a culture that puts their people first.
We are Public Digital, a digital transformation consultancy and we help global institutions that matter thrive in the internet era. We apply the culture, processes, business models and technologies of the internet era to help organisations build and run excellent services. Working with the leaders doing strategy, and the teams doing delivery, we operate globally, advising large organisations and governments on six continents.
We’re values-driven and we articulated them in our positions on the Public Digital website .
Attitude as much as skill, is critically important to us as a team and we look for entrepreneurialism, initiative, kindness, and a willingness to pitch in. Our theory of change is: Digital. Teams. Work - we fundamentally believe transformation is about people, and that change comes from creating great teams and empowering them.
Role overview
We work globally and across governments, multilaterals, cultural institutions and the private sector. We are looking for exceptional people with a digital practitioner or consulting background to join our business in one of our 4 teams: UK & Europe, Americas, International and Health
Your experience will support the large, complex organisations we work with to lead in service-oriented approaches, transform services and deliver lasting change. You will build strong, pragmatic working relationships with leaders and their teams, and bring practitioner experience (for example, in product management, delivery, service design or another discipline).
Our client engagements involve coaching and supporting leaders, helping teams to deliver critical services at scale, developing strategies, and longer-term cultural transformation partnerships to improve capability and adapt ways of working in organisations.
We encourage our people to work across different regions and sectors to bring their expertise to different contexts and share approaches that can help organisations facing similar challenges.
What you’ll do with us:
- Lead large client engagements with accountability for delivery, impact, our teams, and commercials
- Develop strong, proactive and highly trusted relationships with leaders and their teams. You’ll act as an advisor and coach, helping them to shape transformation plans and deliver measurable value
- Mobilise teams for new client engagements and look after the health of our team and performance, including financial management
- Facilitate delivery to a high standard and ensure we’re helping clients achieve their desired outcomes
- Apply your expertise to help organisations dramatically increase their digital maturity, and to deliver better experiences for their users
- Support partners and directors to seek further opportunities for us to provide value to clients, and proactively generate new leads
- Contribute to the life and growth of Public Digital as a values-led business.
- Help to build a positive working environment within your project teams and the business as a whole.
Requirements
We partner with large organisations going through fundamental changes in how they work and deliver services. We help them on their journeys and all that entails, which can be both inspiring and challenging work. At Principal level, it requires high quality judgement about when and how to support clients (drawn from your experience), resilience for the ups and downs of any transformation and empathy with the client and our team.
We’re looking for:
- First-hand experience in service delivery and transformation initiatives in UK government or public interest organisations, including in the private sector.
- Experience leading consulting projects would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Strong understanding of best practice in digital transformation, especially in the UK
- Ability to lead and empower teams to deliver excellent work, from start to finish
- Experience of working in complex or challenging stakeholder environments, and being comfortable with ambiguity
- Pragmatic and proactive approach to managing engagements and building relationships, including excellent levels of organisation and delivery management
- An understanding of how teams work and collaborate, the dynamics of team delivery and how this is nurtured and developed
- Self-starter; able to scope and lead projects independently
- Excellent communicator, with an ability to express data and information in a clear, concise manner to a publishable standard, including articulating technical concepts.
Important Note: Although this ad lists out what we look for in candidates, it is likely that we are missing other skills that you may have which could make you a great fit for our business. Research shows that female candidates tend to be less likely to apply to roles where they don’t check all the boxes over other genders. What we are therefore saying is if you feel you tick the majority of the boxes we have listed above, we would welcome an application from you as it never hurts to take a chance and apply!
Benefits
What’s in it for you:
- Opportunity to grow and progress rapidly within an engaged, supportive environment
- Be entrepreneurial and contribute to the growth and success of Public Digital
- Focus on enabling people to deliver high-impact work with leading institutions around the world
- Focus on learning, development and progression
- Ability to build and develop your expertise and profile through publishing blog posts, presenting at events and sharing knowledge and experience
- Be empowered to do your best job
- Home and remote working, flexibility in how you deliver work
- Buddy system and prioritised mental health
- Generous holiday allowance of 30 days, plus an additional office closure over the Christmas period.
- Private healthcare cover.
- Additional Flexible benefits.

Job Description
Principal Consultant – Engineering/Facilities Management
Location: London (Nearest stations: Old Street & Moorgate)
Agile working options available
Remuneration: Up to £40k basic salary, uncapped commission
You’re thriving - but is your current role still pushing you forward?
You’re good at what you do. You’ve built solid relationships, earned trust, and delivered results. But lately, something’s shifted - not in your performance, but in how your current role feels. Maybe it’s the culture, the direction of the business, or just that sense that you’re not as challenged or supported as you should be.
If you’re recruiting in Facilities Management or Engineering, you already know how demanding the space is. You also know when your surroundings - be it leadership, culture, or just a sense of purpose - aren’t keeping pace with your own ambition.
At Ganymede, we’ve had recruiters join us not because they were struggling, but because they were ready for something better - somewhere they could grow, be trusted, and progress.
The Role and About You:
As a Principal Consultant, you’ll take ownership of and grow your own specialist area within Facilities Management - supported by an experienced leadership team and a client base that already knows us well across transport and infrastructure.
You’ll already be working in recruitment within the Facilities Management or Engineering sector, and you’ll bring with you a clear understanding of the market, what your clients really need, and the value of long-term relationships over quick wins.
This is a 360 role and you’ll have the autonomy to shape your desk your way, with the tools and people to back it up.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Values autonomy and thrives when trusted to deliver
- Relishes the challenge of winning and growing business - not just maintaining it
- Wants to contribute ideas and see them genuinely considered
- Seeks a mature, stable environment that’s still forward-thinking
- Possesses excellent spoken and written English skills
We’re looking for you to bring your experience, standards, and ambition and we’ll support you to go as far as you want.
Why Ganymede?
We’re part of the RTC Group, with over 50 years of recruitment experience and a track record across energy, transport and infrastructure. Our environment and the people within it are what makes the difference here.
- Our team in London includes two consultants ranked in the groups top 10, and a manager who’s been in the top 3 performers for 5 years running
- A 2024 newcomer was recently recognised as Top Contract Newcomer across the group - not because they were pushed, but because they were backed
- Our culture: no egos, no vanity KPIs, no burnout disguised as ambition
- People stay and people grow, and they do it without losing themselves in the process.
Next Steps:
If this sounds like the kind of environment you’ve been quietly holding out for, speak to us for a confidential, no-pressure chat.
Ganymede is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation
