Our client, a forward-thinking leader in aviation technology and services, is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Aviation Safety Specialist to join their team. This is a critical, fully remote role dedicated to enhancing and ensuring the highest standards of safety across our diverse aviation operations and product lines. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing robust safety management systems, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, and fostering a proactive safety culture. This position requires a deep understanding of aviation regulations, safety protocols, and hazard identification, all from the convenience of your remote workspace.

Responsibilities include: Developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive Safety Management Systems (SMS) in accordance with international aviation regulations.
Conducting thorough risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits across all aviation-related activities.
Investigating safety incidents and occurrences, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
Developing and delivering safety training programs to personnel at all levels.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant national and international aviation safety regulations (e.g., EASA, FAA).
Promoting a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
Advising senior management on safety matters and strategic safety initiatives.
Developing safety performance indicators (SPIs) and monitoring safety performance.
Contributing to the design and development of safety-critical aviation systems and processes.
Staying current with the latest developments in aviation safety research, technology, and best practices.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related field, with extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in aviation safety management. A strong understanding of ICAO, EASA, and/or FAA safety regulations and frameworks is essential. Experience in safety auditing, incident investigation, and risk management is highly valued. Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills are required to influence and guide the organization. Professional safety certifications (e.g., CSMP, CMIOSH) are a significant advantage. This role is based in **Oxford, Oxfordshire, UK**, but is conducted entirely remotely. An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor as SHEQ Advisor, working on a freelance basis. This is an immediate requirement with a roughly three-month contract length, potentially more. The schemes are covering roads, highways and heavy civils works across schemes in Kent.



Reporting into Senior Management you will be:



  • Reviewing, improving and approving Health and Safety plans
  • Monitoring and reporting Health and Safety performance
  • Managing sub-contractors and their performance whilst coaching a Health & Safety ethos out on-site
  • Providing operational support in managing safety and driving continuous improvement in site safety
  • To provide the project team with competent advice on current HSE legislation applicable to the activities
  • Promoting a positive culture across all levels of the team



You will be well-versed in coaching and mentoring personnel, controlling their safety output on-site and ensuring compliance alongside client satisfaction. You will be:


  • An excellent communicator, comfortable building relationships from site to board level
  • NEBOSH/NCRQ-qualified (ESSENTIAL)
  • Civil engineering industry experience, ideally roads and infrastructure (ESSENTIAL)
  • A solutions-led H&S professional, capable of identifying and managing risk
