We are looking for a hands-on RF Design Engineer to join an innovative tech company near Cambridge.
On a day to day basis you will be involved in:
- Designing, developing, and optimising RF systems at component level
- Leading integration, testing, and solving complex technical challenges
- Collaborating across hardware, software, and audio teams
- Creating detailed technical documentation, including design reports, test plans, and performance assessments
What do we need from you?
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
- Extensive experience in RF design and development, ideally within the telecommunications industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of RF systems and technologies, including design, simulation, and testing.
- Experience with simulation tools (ADS, CST) and hands-on PCB work
- Strong time management and communication skills, with a history of delivering projects or tasks on time and with high quality.

About the Role
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the reliability testing of advanced network cards in line with an agreed Reliability Test Plan. This is a hands-on role involving test setup, monitoring, troubleshooting, and data collection, with work split between our onsite oven-testing facility and an external partner lab in Haverhill.
The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers to design and validate test setups, check wiring and schematics, run regression tests, and execute scripted procedures across both Windows and Linux platforms. Due to the lab's location, applicants should have access to their own transport.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and run reliability and regression tests on network cards.
Operate and monitor environmental ovens (temperature/humidity cycling).
Work with test scripts, wiring checks, and test automation across Linux and Windows platforms.
Collect and analyse results in Excel, providing clear, accurate documentation.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure tests are executed safely, reliably, and to plan.
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong understanding of complex electronics and system-level testing.
Ability to read schematics and PCB layouts .
Experience with RS232 communications .
Scripting skills (Bash/Linux).
Competent with Excel for test data logging and analysis.
Desirable (Nice-to-Have)
Knowledge of networking technologies (Ethernet standards, PRBS, PCIe, 100G-CR2/CR4).
Experience with Python or C programming .
Familiarity with temperature/humidity cycling equipment.

**Position Purpose**
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing, prototyping, testing, and implementing advanced electrical systems and components, as well as the cases, enclosures, and chassis used to house them. They will work on a wide variety of products including rack-mounted electrical/electronic products, hoist & winch machinery conversions and related structural interfaces. They will also spend a proportion of their time helping to maintain and support existing product line.
**Responsibilities**
+ Detailed hardware design of the electrical and mechanical elements of our products from concept generation, through prototype phases, to final detailed design for manufacture.
+ Generate creative design solutions based on sound engineering principles, making intelligent use of proven methods to reduce technical risk.
+ Produce clear and accurate design documents, e.g. schematics, bills of materials, CAD drawings.
+ Build strong relationships with other engineers on Hampton site and across TAIT, taking a collaborative approach to new product design and development, drawing on your experience and learning from others.
+ Work actively with Production team to ensure your designs transfer well to manufacture, seeking feedback to refine your designs.
+ Coordinate with Purchasing team to provide technical input into the procurement process, engaging directly with external suppliers when required to ensure the quality and value of our outside vendor parts and services.
+ Design mechanical components for enclosures using methods for sheet metal manufacturing and CNC machining.
+ Maintain a working knowledge of applicable technical standards, creating and compiling the relevant design documentation to support CE marking, UL certification, and other regulatory requirements.
+ Support the ongoing production of existing products; fault finding, managing obsolescence, and updating legacy designs as required.
**Position Requirements**
+ BS in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience
+ Practical electrical design experience involving 3-phase power, motor control, variable speed drives, PLCs, SIL rated safety systems, and associated switchgear
+ Mechanical design experience preferred, with a focus on product chassis and associated metalwork, including knowledge of material science, mechanical connection engineering, and design for environmental conditions
+ Proficiency at using EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical to create schematics, layouts, and cable assembly drawings
+ Experience using 3D design software (preferably Autodesk Inventor) to design bent-metal chassis or similar
+ Hands-on prototyping skills, and a desire to help get your designs "off the page"
+ Previous exposure to the entertainment industry is a plus.

Your Role
As the Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations of our site facilities, processing lines and automated systems. You’ll be an integral part of the team, with a varied workload, from electrical fault finding and hands-on repairs to contributing to innovative new projects as we continue scaling up.
Role Specifics:
- Carrying out wiring and re-wiring of low voltage (24V), single and three phase systems (230V and 415V)
- Modifying electrical circuits within our systems and facilities
- Building electrical control panels and troubleshooting issues
- Maintaining, disassembling and re-assembling rotating equipment (e.g. pumps) and drives (e.g. motors)
- Working with sensors, process instrumentation, conveyor systems, frequency inverters, screw augers, heaters, pneumatics, robotics, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems
- Conducting electrical safety testing and documenting the results
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified to electrical standards 17th/18th edition
- Minimum of 3 years relevant electrical experience in a manufacturing, process, agricultural or equivalent setting
- Ability to review and interpret technical electrical drawings and schematics
