We are currently searching for both Catering and Domestic assistants, with a wide range of shift patterns available.
Positions Available:
- Domestic Maternity Cover - 07:00-18:00
- Hostess/Domestic - 13:30-19:30 or 07:30-13:30
- Host - 44 hrs/week, 07:30-19:30
- Catering Assistant - 37.5 hrs/week, 5/7 days, various shifts: 07:00-15:00, 12:00-20:00, 11:00-19:00
- Domestic - Mon-Fri, 17:00-21:30
- Domestic Cleaner (Catering) - Weekend only, 12:00-20:00
- Domestic Long Sickness Cover - Mon-Fri, 16:00-21:00
- Domestic Cleaner - Mon-Fri, 14:00-22:00
Contract Type: Temporary Ongoing (Temp to perm opportunities available)
Hourly Rate: 12.21
As a Domestic or Catering Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional cleaning/food and beverage services to patients across our hospital wards. Your warm and friendly demeanour will contribute to creating a supportive environment for those who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
Domestic Responsibilities:
- Mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down surfaces.
- Cleaning clinical and non-clinical areas such as wards, toilets, corridors, and waiting areas.
- Conducting scheduled deep cleans in isolation rooms and high-risk areas.
- Using approved cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
- Following strict cleaning protocols in line with infection prevention guidelines.
- Applying barrier cleaning techniques and understanding zoning principles.
- Ensuring high-touch surfaces are cleaned regularly and thoroughly.
- Utilising colour-coded cleaning materials to prevent cross-contamination.
Catering Responsibilities:
- utilise our Trust-provided digital tablet systems to take and submit patient meal orders.
- Understand and interpret dietary needs, including allergies and cultural requirements.
- Ensure correct meal allocations by navigating dietary flags and restrictions.
- Provide assistance to patients in selecting suitable meals.
- Prepare and serve lunch and supper meals according to the ward's schedule.
- Conduct a minimum of five hydration rounds per shift to ensure all patients stay hydrated.
- Maintain a clean and organised food trolley and ward pantry area.
- Serve meals attractively and at the correct temperatures, adhering to dietary safety.
Hygiene, Safety, and Compliance:
- Follow food hygiene and safety protocols diligently, including PPE use and cleaning procedures.
- Keep accurate records of food temperatures and service times.
- Understand and apply HACCP and COSHH principles in your daily duties.
- Report any food safety or hygiene concerns to your supervisor immediately.
Communication & Patient Interaction:
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with all patients, including those who may have difficulties.
- Liaise with clinical staff to clarify dietary needs and ensure alignment with care plans.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
