Role : Audio Editor - Speech Tech
Contract : Casual
Type : Hybrid
As an Audio Editor you are responsible for processing dialogue on multiple projects based on tech & digital media. You will be focused on working with several major global tech clients to which you need to ensure a high-quality service is always delivered. Your primary responsibility will be to edit and process high volumes of speech data for machine learning, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with project specifications. This is a key role in helping deliver clean, annotated, and optimised speech datasets for use in cutting-edge voice technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Include:
- Independently edit dialogue for various TTS projects, ensuring high quality audio output.
- Perform tasks such as comping takes, trimming regions, fetching missing exports, strip silence, working with timing constraints, importing audio files into DAW sessions, and anything else to support the post team with their day-to-day duties.
- Collaborate with the post-production team and engineers to deliver audio that meets the client’s vision.
- Organise, track and manage audio files in a systematic manner ensuring they are correctly labelled and stored.
- Troubleshoot audio issues and ensure all deliverables meet technical specifications. Stay up to date on the latest audio editing software, best practices and techniques. Report any issues that might impact progress or quality.
Requirements
- Proficient in the following software and tools:
- WAV file audio editors (Preferably Adobe Audition and/or IZotope RX)
- Avid Pro Tools
- MS Excel and Google Sheets
- Strong interest in audio technology
- Good ability in troubleshooting technical and IT issues.
- Able to adapt and learn new skills and software.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Self-driven, resourceful and a team player who can work well with all levels.

What you'll be doing…
As Channel Editor, Audio, you'll manage our ever-growing audio coverage at Tom's Guide. You'll write and edit reviews of key products, including headphones, earbuds, soundbars and Bluetooth speakers, while regularly updating and maintaining a range of critical buying guides to give our audience the best recommendations possible.
You'll also be responsible for commissioning content to both freelancers and in-house writers, staying on top of news within the category, and maintaining relationships with key product vendors. The ideal candidate will also be someone with a strong editorial voice and a true passion for the category that can help Tom’s Guide stand out with original stories and thoughtful analysis.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve…
- Related experience at an online media outlet, as well as experience reviewing audio products.
- Experience managing freelancers and monthly budget.
- Experience researching SEO trends and analysing traffic.
- Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
- Strong industry contacts are a major plus.
- Experience promoting stories via cross-linking and social media.

This is a Hybrid role from our London Office, working three days from the office, two from home.
