Role Description
This is a contract hybrid role for a Solutions Architect located in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom, with the flexibility of some work from home. The Solutions Architect will be responsible for architecting and designing comprehensive IT solutions that meet the needs of our clients, providing consulting expertise in solution architecture, software development, integration, and business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect robust, secure, and scalable solutions across digital banking and financial platforms.

Qualifications:

- Expert-level skills in API design (REST, SOAP, OpenAPI) and integration architectures.
- Experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, MuleSoft, Kong, WSO2).
- Understanding of cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and containerization.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in financial services (PSD2, Open Banking, GDPR).
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

Typically, this person will:
Work alongside engineering and project teams to produce electrical and mechanical drawings. - Develop detailed design concepts with strong engineering design skills and a good understanding of manufacturing techniques and material properties.

- Create STEP files for customer/client transfer as required.

Qualifications and requirements for the System Design Engineer:
- Minimum qualification of HND, HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent relevant engineering certification.
- At least four years of experience producing electronic and mechanical drawings in significant quantities; ideally five years in electrical/systems design.
- Proficient user of CAD software such as AutoCAD; experience with electrical CAD tools (e.g., SEE Electrical or ETAP) is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition) wiring regulations , EMC, and LVD standards is essential.

**Summary of Role:**
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and high performing Principal Systems Engineer to work within the Raytheon Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT) Engineering team, part of the wider Systems & Products business unit, to produce Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems and Alternative Navigation Solutions for the military market.
The role will provide Design Authority expertise across Raytheon's range of APNT products, providing technical direction across the product lifecycle, from requirements capture, Analysis, Design through testing, qualification and certification activities, release to volume production and ongoing product sustainability.
**Main Duties:**
The role will report directly to the Senior Project Engineering Manager APNT, providing Technical Leadership and Direction for the Engineering team, with Design Authority responsibility for their assigned products and support in generating a development strategy and road maps for the APNT team.
The candidate will Support our Business Development and Capture team regarding customer support and technical / product strategy discussions. Responsible for leading the technical input for Bids and Proposals and Production of Engineering Estimates will assist in the successful capture of new business.
Working closely with our Customers and the System Engineering Team to develop and shape the technical requirements design, generation of technical documentation and then manage these requirements through the design lifecycle in order to meet the requirements set during product development.
Working with our experienced design team, industry experts and interfacing to our suppliers you will be solving complex technical problems on new and existing GPS Anti-Jam Products. As well as providing Engineering representation to production IPT (Integrated Product Team) regards to investigating production queries, obsolescence management and phasing of change management.

+ Product development experience at team lead level
+ Good knowledge of high speed digital design (up to GHz), electro-mechanical and / or thermal product design within harsh environments.

With this unique stage in the design development of a first of type submarine, you will get a chance to:Take on System Ownership, becoming responsible for the continued design phases of the Primary Systems and/or Operational functions.Develop/update/author Operational Procedures, this will involve collaborations with the Ministry of Defence, third party partners, The Royal Navy, Current Class experienced engineers and future platforms FSE's too. Update and improve nuclear safety case documentation, providing the verification and validation or the Primary Systems designs.Support to Commissioning of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant's Primary Systems, this can vary in medium, either remotely via processes such as RRADARs, Technical Queries etc or in person at Barrow Site. Produce and manage the Primary System Fluid System Design Issue Notes for use by the Submarine enterprise partners.

Have previous experience as a Nuclear Watchkeeper or a Fluid Systems Design EngineerUnderstand nuclear safety case methods, principles, structures and management processes.Understand Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics to aid in basic analytical problem solving.Have had previous experience with requirements capture and basic task planning.Confidently and pro-actively engage within internal and externals stakeholders.Be qualified to at least degree level in a relevant (engineering) discipline.
