Job Summary

This role involves managing the tax affairs of the European Real Estate Equity Funds and Separate Account mandates. The focus of this role is providing the necessary tax support across all phases of the deal cycle and investment holding period.

Primary Responsibilities

The candidate will be required to support the following core processes:

  • Determination, in conjunction with advisors, of the appropriate structure to use when acquiring new investments. Reviewing tax structure and TDD reports and subsequently managing the transition from acquisition to operation, including relevant registrations and elections.
  • Modelling the potential tax impact when making disposals as well as responding to the IRLs issued by prospective purchasers.
  • Responding to investor queries and reviewing side letter requests.
  • Being the point person for all tax related questions from colleagues in the Real Estate business.
  • Procurement and management of external tax advisers in respect of direct and indirect tax compliance. This will involve overseeing the tax compliance obligations of approximately 200 investment subsidiaries/holding companies across Europe, including for specialist investment vehicles such as REITs.
  • Oversight of investor reporting (US K-1, German reporting, French 3% tax filings etc)
  • Maintaining a robust tax governance framework with respect to all Real Estate funds
  • Monitoring and internally communicating relevant tax changes across Europe.

Qualifications

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CTA or equivalent
  • Ideally 3 or more years of experience with real estate funds with a good understanding of key tax issues
  • Strong tax compliance experience
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and a commercial mindset with the ability to build strong collegiate relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to articulate complex tax issues in a way that can be easily understood by non-tax colleagues
  • Proactive and practical with an ability to identify and implement continuous improvements in relation to controls and processes.
  • Ability to quickly understand new tax rules and the impact they can have on the business.

As a Corporate Tax Manager, you will take a leading role in delivering tax advisory services to a wide range of clients, including owner-managed businesses (OMBs) and large corporates. You will work closely with partners and junior team members, managing projects from initial engagement through to legal implementation. Corporate Tax Manager/Senior Manager - Advisory Focus - 1-2 Days in Office

We're working with a well-established advisory firm seeking a Corporate Tax Manager to join their expanding Corporate and Business Tax team. This is a genuinely advisory-focused role where you'll work on high-value transactions and complex tax structuring for impressive clients.

Your key responsibilities:


Strategic tax advisory work:

  • Structuring corporate transactions including reconstructions, demergers, and share repurchases
  • Managing full-scope tax due diligence projects across multiple tax heads
  • Advising on employee share incentives and EMI schemes
  • Preparing tax valuations and HMRC clearance applications
  • Supporting EIS/SEIS advance assurance submissions


Client relationship management:

  • Direct client communication throughout project life cycle
  • Participating in new client pitches and business development
  • Delivering bespoke tax advice from initial engagement through legal implementation
  • Working with in-house solicitors to ensure optimal tax outcomes


Team leadership and development:

  • Mentoring junior team members on technical and professional matters
  • Reviewing work prepared by more junior staff before partner approval
  • Supporting peers in their professional development


What we're looking for:


Essential qualifications:

  • ACA/ACCA and CTA/ATT qualified
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in corporate tax advisory
  • Strong technical knowledge across corporation tax, income tax, CGT, VAT, and stamp duties


Key skills and experience:

  • Corporate tax structuring and transaction advisory experience
  • Client-facing confidence with excellent communication skills
  • Team management and mentoring capabilities
  • Advanced Excel and Word proficiency
  • Strong project management abilities with budget and deadline awareness


Types of work you'll handle:


Transaction advisory - M&A, reconstructions, demergers, share schemes
Tax reliefs - EIS/SEIS, R&D credits, other qualifying reliefs
Employee incentives - EMI schemes, valuation reports, HMRC submissions
Due diligence - Full-scope tax reviews across all tax heads
Compliance oversight - Complex corporation tax returns for groups and international clients
